"Limping" worg animation. Is there a fix?

Unread post by Jroaeyl »

We're seeing graphics downgrade for worgs, new skins, and reappearances. But is there hope for the limping animation? That's a major reason why I still love Prairie Wolves (and their puppy barks) and Karoma... they run, feistily!

The only real "fix" for this is when Blizzard decides it's important enough to fix unfortunately.

I just wish they would at least revert whatever change they made to worg graphics. Show of hands for those who actually like the change to worg graphics?

However, fixing the animation would mean redoing one of their animation skeletons, which they frankly have been rather lazy about doing so. The animators churn out better looking models, but neglect the old models that they've created in the past.

Yeah, the graphics need to be fixed badly. I can't stand how much the outlines of the ruff and everything stand out. Between that and the run I can't ever tame and keep one of these guys. :(

the limping animation on te worg models is one of the reasons I dot really have a worg. It bothered me to much. Asides from the ghostly worg with the sword in his head, I stick more with the prairie wolf modeled wolfs.

But on the topic of graphics, Hyena's really need to be reverted back to thier old model where thier heads where kept in the upright position and they didnt have the uni-boob chest. Or atleast fix the issue with thier chest.

Technically, "fixing" the limp wouldn't be a correction, it'd be a change.

I also exist on DeviantArt.

Haven't they always limped? I don't mind it though... it is a little weird but I'm used to it. But yes, please... I want to see the graphical glitch fixed because the fur just looks so bad right now, especially on the light colored skins.

I'd rather see the hyenas fixed to have a proper head set over non limping worgs :)

zomg, yes! I have never been able to bring myself to tame these guys because of the limp! Until I found the saber worgs I refused to get a wolf...even when raiding ICC. I might find myself able to tame one of these if the limping were fixed.

They didn't make these graphical changes to worgs specifically. I don't know too much about the whole process, but this change is affecting all other flat edges in the game. Take a look at hanging vines in jungle zones, or tree leaves in any Vanilla forest, and you can see the same crappy lining around the edge. Unfortunately, some of the older pet models that feature flat, spiky hair are seeing the same effect.

There are a lot of pet glitches right now... A LOT of them... but Blizz has more important issues to deal with to be honest. I'm sure they'll fix these things once more pressing issues have been taken care of.

That particular graphical change is affecting character models for some races, too, so I hope they decide it's 'important enough' soon. DNW funky edges on my main's hair, dammit.

By the way, the Spectral Wolf mount at Tol Barad also has the same limping animation. That's no fun at all to work for for days... might as well get the drake.

Thank you! I mentioned this before in a long time ago post and no one seemed to understand they limp/hop when they run and it looks so stiff.

All wolf mounts have the limp run as they're the same model which is why I rarely ever use them.

Blizzard, I can use 3DSM and CAT well, I will fix all skeletal, animation, and texture mapping errors for free, so I don't have to look at the gawd offal low pally count and broken walk cycles the vast majority of pets have ever again.

Edit: And the broken back right leg of the the Troll Druid cat form.

I honestly think the limp is adorable XD i see it in a totally different light then you guys, it seems to give works life and speed that belies their UNGODLY forms. Honestly, i actually really loathe the worg form unless the colors are black, white, or grey because it hides those terrible bouncing sideburns on theirs (deathmaw im keeping on my blood elf because i felt like i had to rescue him from a terrible death to someones hands and HE BARKS WHEN YA CLICK HIM!!) xP i have stopped actually using my worgs except Whisper my 'The Lone Hunter' because shes soo see-through sometimes i look at the screen and i dont see her, then i move around and shes bouncing right beside me. The choppy graphics at the end of their fur really does bug me :3

BTW any pictures on this 'pre-Hyena? I dont ever recall seeing them with upright heads and no "uni-boob"

I know Ache made a thread about it a while back, but I believe Image is an example of how they used to hold their heads. The current hyenas will occasionally hold their heads the way they used to depending on the animation, but they hold them lower by default which, in my opinion, makes their head, neck, and shoulder area look awkward.

Ohhhh lol hey yea they look way better with their heads up :D I got Dalmy (dalmation cause shes white with black spots), a Snickerfang Hyena and i love her to death and she'd get tons more play time with that upright pose xD

Looks like the white petopia pic is using it too, could just be the angle though..
