Muting the Silithid Tank Thud

Unread post by Nachtwulf »

Okay, I found the old thread about silithid tank racket, but while a few soundfiles were listed, they were all the attack noises (which I don't mind) and not the actually really irritating and constant thump.

Does anyone know what that thud is called (and what I should name the folder to mute it?)

I just got the blue tank and would love to use him... except... thump. @_@

Haven't had time to test this, but it sounds like the right one:

/script PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Effects\\DeathImpacts\\mDeathImpactColossalDirtA.ogg")

You can paste that into a macro to hear the sound.

The file path would be Sound/Effects/DeathImpacts/mDeathImpactColossalDirtA.ogg

Well, I tried muting that and it doesn't seem to be the right one, since he's still thumping.

Found it. File path is Sound/Effects/DeathImpacts/mDeathImpactLargeGrassA.ogg

Hng. That doesn't seem to be it either, because he's still thumping. Lordy, you wouldn't think it'd be that complex. XD

(Unless that was the file for the screeching.)

Edit: he still screeches too.

It works for me. Follow the method here: http://forums.wow-petopia.com/viewtopic ... 37#p152037

Just replace the file and folder names with the ones in this thread.

Unless... are you using a Mac?

I am on a mac. But I've successfully muted many other sounds like that annoying bloody sunflower, so I'm not sure why this one isn't working in particular.

Edit: I think I found the problem. CnP doubled the .ogg extension when I tried to set it last time (from the old one). Testing now.

Son of edit: Nope. Still thumps.

Hmm. I know there was some difference in the muting method on a Mac, but since you seem to have the hang of that I don't know what's going wrong here.

I tested it with the Gorishi Fledgling Colossus, so I suppose it's just possible that different mobs use different sound effects, despite sharing the same model. There's more than one file that uses that distinctive sound, I'll dig up the rest and you could test them.

Ugh, server maintenance. It'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Egh, repeat files. How... awkward. The mob I have is specifically Harakiss, not the one from AQ if that helps any.

I really appreciate the help though.

Looks like it's probably "mDeathImpactGiantGrassA.ogg".

Erghh.

It's not. Nor is it GiantDirtA or LargeDirtA, ColossalDirtA or (on a whim in case it was there) ColossusDirtA.
Edit: Also not GiantGrassA, LargeGrassA, or ColossalGrassA.

Just to be utterly sure, it is: Data -> Sound -> Effects -> DeathImpacts -> soundfile right?

son of edit:

now he only does it -sometimes- when he looks around. Is it possible he's accessing -multiple- soundfiles to do the same thud? I wish Blizzard would just -fix- the random noises, for all that I don't mind the occasional screech.

No idea. My only guess would be to mute multiple files and see if that does it.

Of course, this really should be fixed by Blizzard. I guess it's just way down the bugfix queue.
