I can't seem to make a decision on a pet that matches my mog

The first pet I thought of when I saw your tmog set was a crocolisk. I admit to being partial to crocs, but I think a green croc would look really amazing with your tnog set.

Thanks =), I've been looking at the Devilsaur and Crocs since they seem pretty neat.

And is it also true that I can use any pet I want and not have a ding to my DPS? It's not that great to begin with and often times I worry to much over it.

It doesn't really matter until you get into the more serious progression raiding/challenge modes etc.
