It just kind of stopped existing at some point. It was the only cool rylak model, but they never actually used it. I think Wain (or maybe someone else?) said the files for the model were removed from the game too.

Yeah, it's a big mystery. It was the first rylak model during the WoD Alpha, but then it got mysteriously replaced with a (IMHO) much less interesting model. Nothing was said and it was never seen again.

Best chimaera model ever, it beats the death chimaeras on my opinion, it was about to be a good pet and mount, but no, we ended up getting rylaks which look very similar to wolves, and having a unique beast is probably better than a unique color for a family

There were a lot of missed opportunities with WoD, and Rylaks having a cool model was so close it's puzzling. I like to imagine the cool rylaks are like cicadas, and only leave Farahlon every 17th year and leave their skulls like giant candy around the rest of Draenor. Unfortunately the dumb AU timeskip lept over that year.

Genuinely puzzling. like was it an IP rights issue? did the artist call Ion a doo-doo-stinky-head? there's a bunch of unused, obsolete, and even unfinished models in the files. Why would a cool looking, finished model be removed?

I think that it vanished around the same time that Blizz started implementing major changes to the storylines and zone layouts.

Originally were were supposed to enter Draenor in the area around where Khadgar's tower is in Talador. The Bronze Dragons were going to help us travel to Draenor, and then we would have to carve our way through the Iron Horde and Infinite Dragonflight in Tanaan to the Dark Portal, destroy it, and retreat. This was cut fairly quickly, though you can see in the original map shown at Blizzcon what the intended plan was. There was a remnant of this original plan for a couple of patches in WoD in the form of Bronze Dragon that would fall out of the sky near Khadgar's tower, hit the ground, stand there for a second, then respawn in the sky and repeat the cycle.

Yrel and Maraad were originally supposed to be husband and wife. The main universe Yrel was killed during the genocide, and so Maraad's motivation to traveling to Draenor was to find and save Yrel. The majority of the Alliance story arc in Gorgrond was them rebuilding their relationship and love.

Kargath was not supposed to be killed in Highmaul. He originally survived the encounter and fled to Tanaan for us to fight later.

The giant purple bubble in Shattrath City was supposed to be a raid. Socrethar was supposed to be one of the main bosses in this raid. You can see some leftovers of this if you look up the file names of certain Draenei-themed weapons and how they are named after the raid.

We were also supposed to be able to put our Garrison in any zone, and there would be multiple locations in each zone for us to put the Garrison.

There is also the cut story of how Yrel was supposed to be Archimonde's daughter. Blizz originally hinted about her having a dark secret, but never was this secret mentioned in game.

There is also how Tanaan was supposed to be finished and in the game when WoD launched, and Farahlon being a zone added in a later patch.

The train that we ride in the Grimrail Depot dungeon was supposed to be a train that would travel all around Gorgrond and would be an optional way for us to traverse the zone.

These are just some of the many, many things cut or altered in WoD.

Really wish they'd bring it back. It always reminded me of the spitter raptors from that weird 2008 Turok reboot.
