Shadow Croaker

Found him at a spot and ice trapped and started to tame. Right at the end as tame was ending he despawned. Is this a bug?

Wow. 2nd tame attempt. Ice trap with flare and hunter's mark. Still a fail.

He is EXTREMELY finicky about personal space. Are you remaining at the max distance the entire time? Even while trapped, his behaviour of running away if you approach too close will still trigger. If you find him stay at the farthest possible range to tame and then do it.

Managed to get 1. It's very buggy. Max distance isn't a factor. It's how it's tamed. You can only see it from hidden tracking if your almost next to it. But you need flare to see it at max taming range. It's very buggy with how to tame it.

I spent an extensive time in beta hunting him and testing, I found that Track Hidden can unveil him from quite a far distance away actually, if you're taking it slow and not running. Much farther than if you don't have it on! I would then use a flare and freezing trap for safety and haven't had a trouble taming with those methods.
