Alystros the Verdant Keeper

Unread post by Teigan »

When I get up to level 74 with my Tauren, I want to go after a green jade owl there in Dragonblight. http://www.wow-petopia.com/look/owljade.html It would be easiest of course, to just tame one of the non-elite normal ones. But, I'd like to try for Alystros. Has anyone tamed him? If so, at what level and how did you pull it off? From what I've read, he's a devil to tame and hits like a semi-truck.

I dunno about taming him, but he DOES hit very hard. I've been able to solo most of the elite quest mobs in Northrend on most of my toons--hell, even my Rogue can usually solo most things while questing. But that bird is just a pain in the butt, I've never been able to solo him cause he hits so freakin' hard.

I'd suggest bringing friends. I dunno if traps work on him, but if they do, you'll probably want extras.

I have very unpleasant memories of trying to solo him with my dwarf. *shudders* The blood, the screaming...it was ugly.

Yeah, I...I have similar memories.

/shudder

When you get to that level though, I'd be happy to help you out if I happen to be on. Taigi's 72 but she's in Dragonblight now and getting to the Green shrine should be cake.

I tamed Alystros on my Draeni hunter. I had my wif'e priest for several tries. But he does a knockback. About 10 seconds apart. After about 10 or so tries using potions of speed, haste food, Haste elixir... All failed. But tried again with all those plus my son's Shaman for heroism. That worked. You have to get your tame down to under 10 sec it seems and hope he punts you very early so you can restart the tame.

Problem is I really don't care for the Cunning pets though I do have some.

My view is askew since I didn't try to tame him till I was 80. Not sure how hard he would be at level.

Check if he's hibernatable or sheepable? That may help out, as long as you have aggro first.

Has anyone ever tried dropping a freeze trap, hitting Fear Beast and then Tame Beast? I assume there's a good chance it'll run out of range, royally screwing things up, but if it works, it seems like it'd be a cool/easy way to keep the tame clean.

I recremend that you have an lv.80 to tame it, Iv'e tried taming him before lv.80 he can't be held by frost trap, I had a lv.80 restro druid giving heal buffs while I tamed him still killed me in 3-4 hits.
