On Drak my alliance hunter always wanted the white/black lion but had already done the winterspring quest and so had most of my guildies so tried it another way.
For a while I have had a lvl 22 Belf hunter doing nothing. Looked up how to do the above quest took him to barrens and set out doing pre Qs.
Got the summon horn, went to his lair and tooted the horn, Echeyakee spawns and sits there........
waited to see how long he stayed and it was sometime so......
Went and fetched my alli main, parked him next to bones logged out.
Logged the horde hunter in had to fetch another horn, went back summoned Echeyakee, logged out,
Logged main back in and Bingo Echeyakee was still there summoned mine.
Nice easy 'solo' tame for alliance hunters who cant get help for a white lion.

Pretty awesome!
You're lucky there was nobody around to kill the lion in the interim. I've heard of such things happening before.

Re: Taming Echeyakee
I actually made a Blood Elf hunter for this reason, and i got him to level 9 but by that time i had already got echeyakee on my dwarf. I then planed on getting Arikara on my dwarf and was gunna level up to whatever level is required to summon...Still level 9 as i just can't be bothered to level him.
