Arena pet

Unread post by Orni »

Right now I'm thinking about switching my pvp pet, I'm survival specced for PvP.
I now this decision is largly based on the team synergy/tactic, but what do you think in general ?

I don't really know which pet family would perform best.

Ravagers (http://www.wow-petopia.com/html/familie ... vager.html) are the pet to use if you want a stun, as I think people say bats (http://www.wow-petopia.com/html/familie ... y_bat.html) just aren't as good.

Owls-er, Birds of Prey, (http://www.wow-petopia.com/html/familie ... fprey.html) have a disarm, can help against melee.

The big wasp (http://www.wow-petopia.com/html/mobs/mo ... ewasp.html) can get in the way, if the people can't target well.

Hyenas (http://www.wow-petopia.com/html/familie ... hyena.html) have the hamstring type skill, pretty useful.

Spiders (http://www.wow-petopia.com/html/familie ... pider.html) are popular (silithids (http://www.wow-petopia.com/html/familie ... ithid.html) if you're BM) for their root.

Pretty much any pet with a slowing/stun skill is considered a good PvP pet. Then again if you try to burn the opponents ASAP a pure DPS type pet (like a wolf (http://www.wow-petopia.com/html/familie ... _wolf.html) for example) might work too.

For LK, I had a crab up until recently, but had him reborn as a spider. Both have worked nicely for me, though I'm marks and have my own disarm.

It really depends on your comp/preferences. Tenacity pets can survive better on their own, but my lil' spider buddy has killed rogues while they've had me stunlocked. It's all tradeoffs.

Chimeras work well too. They're big from a targeting standpoint, and their slow/poison ability has a 6sec cooldown. Pretty nifty for kiting annoying melee

Don't forget Hyenas!

Slows movement speed by 50% for 6 seconds every 20 seconds. They are ferocity pets too so you can have all 3 movement increasing talents and a insta rez if you so please :p

Only drawback I found is that Tendon rip is applies on next melee attack so its not truly instant.

(also for pve, tendon rip causes a somewhat large amount of aggro, actually tanks better than my cat. Go figure)

Lil, What does beast lore say about its armor rating?
...
ITS OVER 9000!!!!

I personally think that the Bat would be the best pet for pvp if it wasn't for the hefty focus cost of Sonic Blast. (80 focus)
I would like to chose the Ravager over him, but his ravage is all too often blocked, dodged or parried. Another problem I ocassionaly get is that Bull Headed is on cooldown and the ravager might be rooted and I can't use his stun.
The best solution I found was to use the bat and turn off his auto-cast on bite and make a macro that uses his Sonic Blast as well as turn on his bite. Don't have the bite all the time, but at least when Sonic Blast is on CD. The ranged stun seems to be full of win. Especially with the Sonic Blast for focus targets.
I love the crab and spider, but don't know which is better. :P They're great for holding down the los runners and melee but sometimes a stun would come in much more handy than the pin or web.
