Yeah, I can say I kind of do miss this. Especially if you were lucky enough to have a pet that matched your mount. How cool is that?!
If you don't like it, fix it. If you don't fix it, deal with it.

Oh yeah...
Big time :O(
Turn off "run" and just slowly walk down the road in some best-in game-designed NE locations :O)
With a good graphic card, right mood and enough Smirnoff you was able to feel like you r part of the movie or such :O))
Big time :O(
Back in vanilla lots of NE hunters did that way :O) And it was really cool.Maqueda wrote:Yeah, I can say I kind of do miss this. Especially if you were lucky enough to have a pet that matched your mount. How cool is that?!

When I did the quest to ride a long with Fionas caravan in plaguelands my little fox was running behind the caravan, it looked pretty awesome.

If there is a vehicle you hop into while already mounted your pet will come out in the brief time when you move from your mount to the vehicle. So passenger mounts, if you're mounted first and go directly to that passenger mount, your pet will stay out.Moore wrote:When I did the quest to ride a long with Fionas caravan in plaguelands my little fox was running behind the caravan, it looked pretty awesome.

Only problem is, in a PvP setting particularly, they can still be attacked, though they are on Passive. I thought it was cool the first time I saw it in Wintergrasp....for about ten seconds. Poor Rhino.

I do, actually.
But I'd only want it back for ground mounts. Not flyers.
And that would probably be a bugbear to program for Blizz.

Re: Anyone else miss having our pets trail behind when Mount
Couldn't you send your pet to attack something while you were still mounted?
I think i remember getting ganked by a lvl 60 hunter once by his pet while he stayed idle on his mount.
Good times...

Oh, I really, really miss that. Made me so sad when they made the pets disappear upon mounting. I think it was implemented mainly because of the problems Warlocks encountered with pets and flying mounts (since they need Soul Shards to resummon their pets). Still, I do wish that we could have it back.
Re: Anyone else miss having our pets trail behind when Mount
Nope. Pet was in passive mode.Royi wrote:Couldn't you send your pet to attack something while you were still mounted?
Not sure 'bout it.Warfish wrote: And that would probably be a bugbear to program for Blizz.
It should work as same as companion script works - as long u r using ground mounts they r near you. As far as you take flying- they r gone.
Unless you have bird as a pet. Well then it will be rock flying with your pet... Heh :O(

Re: Anyone else miss having our pets trail behind when Mount
I DO remember that the mage's water elemental would do something similar before the recent patches, if it was glyphed to remain out as long as it had health. While you were attacking or running around, it would be active on either aggressive or defensive (however you set it). As soon as you mounted for ground OR flying though, it would immediately become Passive and its bar went gray, so you couldn't control it.
It actually ended up being a royal nuisance in outland. My elemental would stay on the ground while my mage went flying, and would aggro everything within sight unless I went high enough to despawn it. Pain in the butt really.
While it looks cool if pets were out, if that were to happen again, I'd honestly rather it not! I didn't have much attachment to my elemental, but I'd feel terrible if I left my poor hunter pet to aggro everything to its own death while it loyally tried to follow me.

I miss it a lot. I think many of us hunters play the class because of the pets. I feel seriously alone when riding without my pet. And I think we're all proud of our pets, no matter what they are. You see a hunter, there pet must be near by. I don't know what the answer is. I know flying mounts became a problem - but I'd love to have them back riding with the wind in their hair. Errrrr.....I guess that would be fur. Or feathers -or exoskeleton. eww.
Re: Anyone else miss having our pets trail behind when Mount
I miss it a lot. I was always surprised it was taken away cause I always wondered how the RP servers deal with your pet "poofing" and then returning when you 600 miles away XD
But man. I miss it sooooooo much. It was minor, but man did it bring me joy ;_;

Yes and no. Yes, it would be cool and handy. No because getting ganked would suck and if pet AI stays as it is, my pet will have 99 million mobs trailing behind.

Re: Anyone else miss having our pets trail behind when Mount
I miss it. A lot. It was one of the coolest things I remember about hunters back in Vanilla. A lot of the hunters in my guild would match pets to their mounts and vanity pets, for a whole set. (for example, the worgs)
I wish my pets could still run beside me while I'm on a ground mount. Disappearing when you take off in flight, however, would be a smart move.

An easy solution would be for the pet to turn into an extension of you when your mounted. It it draws the agro,.. you draw it instead.

Re: Anyone else miss having our pets trail behind when Mount
How about they only make pets despawn when you mount up on a flying mount? In other words, mounting up on a gryphon, celestial steed, flying machine, or rocket will make your pet despawn, but mounting up on a horse will not.

I remember the fun old days. Being an orc mounted on a black wolf, with a black worg pet and the black worg companion pet. Oh how I wish I had a screenshot of that.

Re: Anyone else miss having our pets trail behind when Mount
I think that it would be extremely neat... IF they can make it so that:
A) The pet can't be used to attack, or aggro things.
B) That the pet couldn't be attacked or aggroed off of you and killed.
C) That there would be a toggle switch, to make it possible to shut it off. and,
D) That only flying pets could follow Flying mounts.
