Gratz in your blue baby! I had a hard time deciding between the blue and the green but the blue ultimately won my heart too.
Re: Show off your new 5.2 tames
So, the island finally settled down and I found a 'sweet spot' where several Dinomancers spawned and there weren't too many people.... Though I did have to deal with a few being rude and such.
After about an hour and a half of farming, I had my Dinomancy Tome and all four of the pets, plus some extras!
Now, I just had to pick a Direhorn! My original desire was the green ones...but I wasn't fond of the odd red eyes.
I tried a blue, but that just didn't click, even though blue is my favorite color. With blue and gold, it just felt sort of 'Alliance' to me and didn't fit Sethalaen's character at all.
I rather liked the brown...until I noticed the weird green toenails and the pinkish feet. Then I couldn't unsee!
The pale was all right, but just didn't seem quite right either.
I honestly didn't even consider the red. I don't like red at all. It's pretty far down the list of my favorite colors! Still, like three guild-mates were saying red was the best. I waffled. I stuck with pale for a few hours, went around, and finally let her go. It just didn't click.
I went back to the Isle, riding around carefully, looking at all the Direhorns and being frustrated that it wasn't easier since my Devilsaur was immediate. The dark hide with the 'fire' colored stripes was perfect, since my guild <In Fire and Shadow> has a guild tabard that is black with an orange symbol.
Well, while I roaming, I noticed that a bunch of people were farming the reds. I think they were all in a group, because they were rounding them up and killing them. It made me kind of sad in a strange way, all those Direhorn corpses littering the grass.
There was only two left not aggroed when I showed up. One of the Hatchlings was grazing by the water, looking peaceful. The other was an adult. I was sitting there, still not sure when one of the mages pulled the adult. Realizing that the baby, the last of his little 'herd' was about to be pulled and killed, I hopped off my mount and tamed him. For some reason I just couldn't stand the poor little fellow being part of the massacre.
So...here he is with Seth at the farm.
His name is Lok'tar, which is Orcish for "Victory!".

The blue one isn't my favourite, but it matches Nani's armor way too well to pass up. <3

Wait.. are they sized down from their big size on the PTR (after tame) or not? Conflicting screenshot information. xD

They're smaller. I think they might be a little bit bigger than the first size they had on the PTR, but they definitely aren't as large as the last build.Qraljar wrote:Wait.. are they sized down from their big size on the PTR (after tame) or not? Conflicting screenshot information. xD
PTR (big size)
Live currently
I personally miss the big size.

Re: Show off your new 5.2 tames
I like all the dinosaurs. Quick question from a current non-player, are certain Triceratops only allowed to tame from using a drop or something?
I remember a idea long ago in one of those lurker threads that a pet could come from a rare item. Wonder if it was something borrowed from that idea somewhat

If you go look up the direhorn thread it says specifically in it that you have to farm a certain type of mob for a tome that teaches you how to tame the triceratops.

Re: Show off your new 5.2 tames
My new tames for this patch (so far at least):
Shen (my former green dragon turtle) ran away from home for a little while and has been missing. Turns out he went and hid on the Isle of Thunder until I came to find him. Look at the smug little jerk.
I am utterly in love with the new devilsaur and direhorn skins. They're so detailed and beautiful. <3 I think this devilsaur skin is what I have been subconsciously waiting for in game as my previous devilsaur was going unused in my stables.
And last, but not least, is my direhorn, whom took forever for me to decide upon. xD My boyfriend new right away that he really wanted the blue and yellow one but I was torn on which color to take, especially since I had been growing unhappy with my hunter's race (despite my love of pandaren). So he let me race change her to a human and from there it was a tough struggle between the red and the brown one. In the end I opted for the brown one and after studying him a little longer, I realized why I was more drawn to him--he reminded me a lot of a very special elf hunter that I RP with and thus has been dubbed as Varethyn. :3

Re: Show off your new 5.2 tames
So far, I've only really settled on one of my new tames. The direhorns are being incredibly tough! On one hand, I adore the brown, but on the other, the white really took me by surprise and stuck out to me... I'll have to see!
My devilsaur, however, was instant. I adore this coloration and he's a lovely beasty that, while still nameless, will most likely claim a permanent stale slot. I've been wanting a devilsaur for a while, after all, and he's too pretty to pass up.

One last tame I wasn't planning, but decided I'd try --
Given his hard-hitting incarnation out in the wild, a little Berserker. And so, 'Zerk for short.

Mine (same color, stuck for a name) seems a fair bit smaller than that... but then, my hunter's a Tauren, so it might just be a matter of relative scale.Vephriel wrote: Live currently

Looks huge on the character select screen, though.

Re: Show off your new 5.2 tames
At last I have all the pets I wanted in this patch for my hunters. Loving the devilsaurs and especially the dire horns. I get a bit moist-eyed whenever I look at mine.
Sophronia, a crab I hope will break my trend of not being able to bond with them.
So glad that I finally got a turtle that suits Lindy. Morwen:
Lysander looking mighty handsome.
Aelinuial.
Dollar.
Beleth.
Belial.
Byron is very protective.
And last, but most certainly not least...my favourite of the lot:
Lais the Breathtaking

Re: Show off your new 5.2 tames
I finally made it out to the Isle of Giants last night. Man, there were a lot of people there. Mostly hunters after the books, but also a lot of other folks who I assume were farming bones and pets. After killing 6 dinomancers by myself with no book, I discovered that a few guildies were also on the island, so I joined 'em and the four of us camped out at one of the dinomancer camps. It took a half dozen or so more kills before I got the book. We stuck around, managing to get everybody all but one of the pets, then I zipped to the other side of the island where the blue direhorns are.
Meet Trixie.
She's named after the triceratops in Toy Story 3. Unfortunately, she and Grumpy (the devilsaur formerly known as King Krush) will only get to hang out together in the stables or during stampedes.

Re: Show off your new 5.2 tames
Here are my two newbies from the Isle of Giants.
First we have Sherman, named for the famous tank.
I love how he sports the Alliance colors and matches with the Pandaren tabard.
Then we have Gojira who magically morphed from his previous Ironhide form.
I find the lighting effects striking on the red skin.
