The only way to find out is to ask. I'm not sure what the exact time durations are on restorations. I know some people have successfully had old pets restored after quite a long while, but others have been turned down due to the information not being available anymore.

If you're planning on opening a ticket, just be polite and try to give as much information as you can. If you can remember roughly when it was abandoned, what it's name was, etc.

I would love hydra to be added

Yep still nothing at all with the hydras or the ghost hydra...

I'm thinking if Hydras are indeed a planned addition to the Hunter pet families, they're not quite ready yet and will be saved for a later content patch, perhaps with the Firelands raid and such.

I do still have high hopes that Blizzard wants to make them tameable, there have been enough hints dropped that they're fiddling with them. *crosses fingers*

I definitely agree that I think hydras will come, I just don't think it'll be with 4.1. I think it'll be with 4.2 or even beyond. Most importantly, it'll be when and if Blizzard's ready.

Personally, I think they're far more concerned with the content and bug fixes they're putting out over making hydras tamable. Not to mention, I seriously think it's more than just "flipping a switch" to make an entire new family tamable. We aren't developers, we don't know exactly what they have to do to make a certain pet tamable, but I'm pretty sure it's more than just flipping a switch.

They have to determine how the pet will scale in terms of size, enable coding for it to be tamable, initiate attacks and abilities, make sure their animations function decently, determine what family they belong to, etc etc.

Blizz should take as long as they want in doing this they have more important things to worry about atm than giveing us a extra pet type.

Thing is though, ghost hydras were never intended to be tamed, and as far as I know, because they were, already had the full set of animations and everything--at least for that point in time. We don't know what Blizzard intends to do with hydras other than they appear to be wanting to make them tamable. We don't know anything beyond that.

Not to mention, the more important, underlying point of their patches is the upcoming content. I imagine they're pretty bogged down tuning ZA/ZG (not to mention Firelands) as well as continually fine-tuning the classes (a project they've been doing since release). I'd rather them get all that stuff working than them throw in some pretty shiny to make hunters happy and make all the other classes whine because we get something new and their class is still "broken."

I'm disappointed that tameable hydras won't be in for 4.1, but hopefully it was just a little side project that the developers/programmers didn't have time for this go around. Maybe a 4.1.x will have the tameable hydras once all the new dungeon nuttery is sorted out.

Becouse they have more important things to do they can't keep adding new things JUST FOR HUNTERS. We are lucky that they add anything new for us.

Yha because carrion feeder, Guard dog, bloodthirsty and the rune made keeping our pet happy so hard.
I feel like they went into a kids room stole a toy, put new batteries in it, then wrapped it up and gave it to him on christmas
