* Bloodthirsty no longer generates Happiness.
* Carrion Feeder no longer restores Happiness.
* The Feed Pet ability now instantly heals 50% of the pet's health. Cannot be used in combat. Requires diet-appropriate food.
* Guard Dog no longer causes Growl to generate additional Happiness.
* The Happiness/Pet Loyalty System has been removed. Hunters will no longer have to manage Happiness for their pets, and the previous damage bonus for pets being happy will now be baseline for all tamed pets.

Glyph of Mend Pet is now Glyph of Greater Proportion, which increases the size of the pet slightly. :)

Not going to lie, I was reading it, and was all "Why are you taking away my happiness skills? D<"

...then I saw why, and was all "Yay! :D"

I want to know how big "slightly" is.

Aww, the removal of the Happiness system will render the Pet Emote addon very much....depleted. :(

EDIT: Oooh I do like the sound of that glyph though. Slightly larger pet is awesome. ^^

Honestly, I really liked it. It made me feel more involved and immersed into the game as a hunter, to need to feed my pet when they were unhappy. I suppose the whole system became redundant with how easy pets are to level now, along with how easy they are to keep happy at present but despite this I feel that I'll miss it... it was just something that made hunters different from the other pet classes.

This is interesting enough.

well at least we have a neat way to heal them now...though it's a shame for the emotes

and if bloodthirsty, Guard Dog, and carrion feeder don't grant happiness whats the point of haveing them?

They still heal the pet (CF and BT)

Guard Dog still generates additional threat

I will be so happy if that Pet Emote addon is used less. Personally, I really hated seeing that emote system. The number of grammatical errors in it drove me nuts.

I know, I don't use the best English either, but the fact that the commas and apostrophes of that addon were always like

"Rikaku 's Bird of Prey, Cat, eats happily."

That always peeved me off @_@

But the glyph sounds awesome! Totally using that!

I too would also like to see screenshots of the same pet with/without the glyph in place or two of the same pet type with the same thing, just to see how much bigger 'slightly' is. :P

I'm a little disappointed that our pets seem to be turning into tools like lock and dk pets, but this glyph intrigues me.

Uhh.. WHAT. Seriously?! This is kind of awesome.. If it didn't feel like our pets are turning into friggen Warlock demons! >.<

.... That Glyph DOES seem pretty interesting though.

Does this mean Warlocks will get to enslave their own demons soon?

Didn't think much of it, until you put it that way, since, between Bloodthirsty, Guard Dog, and Mend Pet, my pets were virtually never unhappy... Now I'm wondering if it's really so great a change. Then again, who knows - maybe it'll end up like the auto-level-with-taming feature, where later we'll wonder how we ever lived without it.

A glyph that makes pets bigger? Oh lord, as if healers didn't complain enough already about corehounds/devilsaurs blocking the tank and melee DPS...

Healers should not complain about the size of any mob.

This change kinda' sucks. I miss loyalty too, though. It made thepet feel like more than just something that follows you around and takes a beating on command. Now it's just a mindless buff-bot.

at least we still have feed pet.and it heals them now.
ill admit.the rare occasions my pet fell to yellow or red faced.it was usually in odd coincidence with what was happening in game.like say, my targeting a skull level elite or looking over the edge of a cliff.i will miss that...

I've never heard of a healer complain about pets being too big O_o I mean, even if you have the default UI, you can heal virtually without every having to click the actual characters. If your healer is complaining about pets being "too big", then I would say remind them that they aren't healing right because they shouldn't need to actually "click" on a character XD

It's melee who will complain about pet size.

Poor Scratchfever will be seriously bummed out by this change.

If you want to look at it from an outside perspective, pets are mindless buff-bots to begin with. Their "happiness" was just a buff/debuff that fluctuated depending on if you fed it/spammed mend pet. Scarily enough there are hunters who see their pets as this from the beginning - a pet is not inherently 'live' when you make a hunter. :P Addons, imagination and a general care for the clump of pixels makes it more than a buff-bot. Happiness and loyalty being gone will not change that at all.

(Also I have no idea why you would want loyalty back. Good Grom could you imagine the tears when someone's Loque/Sambas/Chromaggus ran away due to not knowing how it works/a mistake on their part?)
