I made a Petopia account to announce that a GM has told me that hydras ARE coming in 4.2!

I would take that with a grain of salt--GMs don't always know everything.

as of last Patch 4.2 - PTR Build 14107 Hydras still not tamable.

I added text to the title to make it more clear what this thread is about.

As much as one should never completely rely on what a GM said to be the one and only truth, just because we have not seen a tamable hydra yet, does not mean that they may not be in the line up for 4.2. The Ghost ones that are left over form the Shol Basin Daily seem to be working as a pet just fine so far, along with their crit buff, so the implementation looks completely possible.

Also I for one have not seen a new spirit beast yet, but I reckon we may see one implemented before the patch hits (well I sure am hoping )

I never said hydras won't become tamable next patch, I said take what was said with a grain of salt.
It would suck to see everyone getting hyped up for them for this patch and then Blizzard not releasing them.

GMs are not devs; they don't always know everything that's going on with what is and isn't coming out. There's nothing wrong with erring on the side of the cautious. That means if they come out: Fantastic! It's a great present. If they don't: You're not let down as hard and have to keep hoping.

Believe me, if they're out next patch I'm happy for everyone.

I have a very, very strong belief that Hydras are coming eventually. I just see no reason why Blizzard would go through the trouble of creating a new family, a new ability, and change an existing glitch pet if they weren't planning on it. It's well known that Hydras were among the most requested creature to be made tameable. I can only assume Blizzard is in the process of giving them to us, but other priorities for the patches are coming first.

I can be wrong of course, but I'd honestly be surprised if we didn't get them after all this. I'm just trying to stay patient until we receive the definitive news.

I'm trying to spread the Hydra obsession as much as I can. ^_^

Aye, I believe that they're coming and I don't wish to be misquoted again saying they're not.

I just don't want everyone to get their hopes up based off of ONE GM statement that a player got saying they're coming next patch. It's better to be safe than sorry, after all.

I'm not getting my hopes up intill I see it really :/ I mean yeah there more likely going to but yeah time will tell.

Well I do think they are working on it. Why else would they set up the pet framework? Just to torment us Hydra lovers?

GMs are just about as clueless as players are when it comes to shit like this. As dude said, about grains of salt, that applies here.

well theres supposedly atm 5/13 installments made in the PTR, thats 8 installments that have yet to be tested. Thats a lot of gameplay to go through and refine from its raw state, i can imagine probably in installment 8 or 9 or actually, just because people have demanded it so long now, for a surprise to the hunter community, they'll wait till installment 13 so its new and fresh and the demand isnt so sudden since it will be live by the time the half of the community who didnt follow the PTR notes learns that they can get a hydra, it helps keep hunters from demanding more (least it seems that way in my head) between one patch and the next
