Unfortunately, some people will not care about not getting any loot. They see a hunter taming something, they will kill it, just because they can.

I want the ability to attack people and move while taming something atleast then I'll have a fair chance to protect my tame while taming it.

There should be a second taming ability obtained at level 85 that makes the target beast immune to other player's attacks. Maybe restrict it to rares only but still.

Or, simply a tame that is a permanent taunt; the pet will never change targets while under the effect, or makes them angry enough at you that they do not change targets unless you die. Killing em is painful enough, but all a rival hunter, or huntard who's jealous, has to do is distracting shot. BLAM, you fail.

even if they did someone could still hit it and it would pull aggro then its a fail tame

Yes, but at least they wouldn't kill it and you'd still have a chance to struggle it back into control, rather than "someone tries to kill it once and it's all over".

Don't you think that would make it too easy? I mean, if no one can kill it, then all you have to do is wait for it. If no one can taunt it off you then you could just have a priest come heal you through all damage which would eliminate the challenging ones. I mean at that point you might as well have rare pets appear at random on the auction house, short timer, and you just go and bid as much as you want for it. Then we would all camp the AH instead lol. Hmm actually, that might work if rather than the pet, it was like a map to it's location and you go into a phased area where it's just you and the beast and you have to figure out how to tame it. Still though.. kinda not the same.

I dunno, I think that as crappy as it might be, that part of a challenging tame is the buttheads that will come along and ruin it for us. I had Loque stolen from me twice so I have some idea of what it feels like and it sucks. But what can you do?

This this this this this! Buttheads have always been a part of the taming challenge and they always will be. It's unfortunate when you run into them, but making pets unkillable or taming a permanent taunt or being able to attack/heal/dance while taming just gets rid of the challenge that Blizzard put in for us. Hunters years before us have been dealing with the same issue, and there's really only a few things you can do to combat it:

• Remember the three T's. TAG, TRAP and TAME.
• Treat others as you'd like to be treated.
• Accept that there are jerks in this game despite following rule #2.
• Remember that this is PTR, and more importantly, that this is just a game, and things do respawn.
• Never give up.

In any case, I like the idea of them being unable to be pulled from the hunter while tame beast is channeling. There's still the opportunity for someone to kill it while you're taming but you're going to have a higher chance of actually getting the tame off this way.

anyways I am glad you ended up finding him again. But I do agree! And sadly some ok most... well traps wont work. Tame is after tagging and kiting for a bit, so its not like it was before when you just found a rare. Then landed, trapped and hit tame. Deth takes atleast 10 mins so far to kite, and all the rares are touchy/feely. Where you have to prepare by killing mobs around it so you can kite, more things are needed on your bar and what not but thats what makes it fun.

The best thing you can do is before you go to camp have a bar already prepared for the rare with everything you need in order of rotation so its as smooth as possible. Make friends with fellow campers, remember they can always help you out with timers and maybe you can make some sort of deal. And above all, relax and try to have fun. Failure only makes the end result that much more sweeter ^>^
