y/n?
Forsaken died long before the non-Pandaren monks started training.

I suppose the reason for the lack of Worgen and Goblin monks is that Blizzard wants to encourage us to play the other races now. The two Cata races already have lots of reasons to play them, so they perhaps want to shuffle the playerbase around somewhat.

The original forsaken died a long time ago, yes, but the newly risen forsaken are being reanimated from day to day. So I suppose we'll see under what conditions Forsaken can learn to be monks first, but you could probably get away with it.

Makes total sense to me that both goblins and worgen can't be monks. As Azunara said, goblins are greedy, immoral and not really all that closely tied to nature or even themselves. I can't really see my goblin priest being all that calm or introspective, despite how much I love her. As for worgen, I tend to consider them to be pretty aggressive, angry creatures, and I wouldn't say they have the best self-control. Even if I wanted my worgen hunter to be in her human form while fighting, it's impossible. She goes all rageface at the first sign of conflict.

But really, as has been previously discussed, it probably has more to do with trying to explain how races with totally separate starting zones suddenly have monk trainers hanging around.

As someone corrected me on the official forums, the monk trainers should not be a worry since, you know, all skills are now learnt automatically. It may be general timeline confusion... but then so are Draenei monks who start before Cataclysm.

Sesamee said that, not me. :3

However, I agree. If I had my way, these are what the races a monk could be. Yes, I know it is unbalanced completely. That's why I'm not having my way:

Pandaren: Yes. This is sort of obvious, as they'll be the ones to introduce it, likely. Not-pandaren monks is like having chocolate ice cream without chocolate.

Draenei: Yes. They are firm believers of the light and are very devout and typically believe in justice. It isn't too hard to think of them as monks, it fits them very well.

Dwarf: Yes. This seems logical enough, as they, like humans, have always been typically the monk type throughout literature.

Gnome: No. They have no interest in religion, and unless it's a Techno-Monk, gnomes would want no part in it.

Human: See dwarf.

Night Elf: If class balances and the like were not a factor, I would say no. They don't seem like the monks, monks seem like another druid to me. Druids are devout followers of nature, and monks seem unneeded, if you ask me, to NE society.

Blood Elves: No. They shouldn't even be priests or paladins, they stole their magical light ability, as far as I remember. Why would they be monks?

Trolls: No. They don't seem like the type to meditate and focus on religion and the like. They have their savage Loas, there is nothing beneficial and benevolent about them (Going lore wise, the trolls are a pretty savage race), and monks just don't fit.

Tauren: Yup, I would justify them. Again, not too far a leap like the draenei, where they're close enough it could make sense. While yes, they also do the worship thing, they're less focused on the moon as the night elves and it seems more sensible.

Forsaken: Nix. They don't seem like they would sit and meditate either. They don't have the time, patience, or desire to monks, if you ask me.

Orc: I could see the monks like shamans, and thereby it makes sense to me. There's a lot of reflection and meditation and the like for both.

Goblin: Nope, see gnomes.

Worgen: Nope, too feral and wolfish. See why they can't be priests/pallies.

Small counter-point, Azu, but we do have gnome priests. Whether you agree with their existence or not is another matter entirely.

We do? O_o Huh. I stand semi-corrected, then.
