Re: Quilen back to the cat skeleton
Their ears are also animated on the worg skeleton and flop about, whereas on the cat skeleton they seem solid and just part of the mane.

Re: Quilen back to the cat skeleton
*HUGE sad face* I like having color but hate the cat skelli on them....loved the worgie If I had to choise either worg with no color or cat with color I'd probbly choise the worgie one...just looks much more like the creature taken from asian lore they are styled after.

Oh I know. I merely added in Foo Dog since a lot of people are familiar with that creature even though thats not their real name. XD Admittedly I was one of them, but I have since learned.
And WOW. Those comparisons....
holy crap. Worg skeleton all the way.
Re: Quilen back to the cat skeleton
I definitely prefer the worg skeleton... makes them actually look like a mane, and not just some misplaced fur.
I think they remind me of Yojimbo's dog from FFX. That's one of the main reasons I prefer the worg models, xD

Re: Quilen back to the cat skeleton
Side by side really shows how much better worg skeleton is for them. The face looks sooooo much better on the worg skeleton. The animations are just down right better. I do hope they go back to worg skeleton.

Re: Quilen back to the cat skeleton
I always thought the cat skeleton quilen looked oddly squished and unimpressive. The worg skeleton solves that by giving it a proud, upright stance and an imposing profile. I hope they change it back.

Re: Quilen back to the cat skeleton
The Worg run looks ~really~ bad xD That's the down side to the Worg Skeleton. The idle stand looks great, but the run, walk and attack animations look awful.

Re: Quilen back to the cat skeleton
Really? I think the quilen make even the painful run look excellent, myself. I hate it on worgs, but it seems to just... work for these guys.Dekota wrote:The Worg run looks ~really~ bad xD That's the down side to the Worg Skeleton. Re: Quilen back to the cat skeleton
Personally, I think if I had to pick one or the other, I would also pick the Worg Skeleton for this one. As a few have already mentioned, you really get to see the Swirls in 3/d on the back of their neck and they just look a lot more meaty and stoic on that frame. ( I <3 the more "Bulky" factor, especially on the stone variants.)
No doubt that a Quilen mount will make it's way into the game at some point also, and maybe, that could be the reason they have reverted back to the cat frame? Is there any way to test how much clipping occurs riding a quilen with a Worg frame? Maybe it was just too much clipping and hence the change back? (I'm just stabbing in the dark here, but in most cases, there normally a reason one way or another when things change)

Re: Quilen back to the cat skeleton
Personally I kind of prefer the dog skeleton - it's not that the cat skeleton looks bad, but rather that statues irl normally use more of an upright / attentive posture (being guardians and all) like the dog pose, which somehow just seems to fit better for me. Whereas the cat skeleton just makes me think "mutant lion hoping not to be noticed".

Re: Quilen back to the cat skeleton
Part of it is that originally lions were described by word of mouth and therefore became depicted as glorified pugs / foo dogs because that was the closest thing Chinese artists had to go by at the time, and from then on tradition > reality.Rikaku wrote:cowmuflage wrote:There ya go fixed it. So they look like a foo dog but are called a foo lion.
But that's like if everyone agreed to call turtles geese.
Meanwhile when this confused statue made its way to Japan through Korea, it was renamed komainu which means "Korea Dog"... so not just white people.

Re: Quilen back to the cat skeleton
Don't give up hope - it could get changed back (and it should - despite the literal name, fu lions' appearance and character (loyal, obedient protectors) was based primarily on the pug dog, and it's cultural charm derives from this)
