Pets we have now no longer tameable in MoP Beta/Currently
Hi all,
I know we have a list of pets that are coming out in MoP, and I know we have seen threads on how the appearance buff tames have been fixed by Blizzard (at least via the methods we knew worked). I'm wondering if anyone has generated a list of pets that are no longer tameable in MoP Beta that we'll want to get now.
For example, I remember seeing that the Scarlet Monastery tracking hounds have changed, so if you want a red one theoretically you need to get it now, unless of course the NPCID specifically changes as well and you won't have a choice.
Does anyone know of any other pets that exist now that are no longer available?

Color-changers are going away, but I don't know if one tamed before MoP will keep changing or not.

I've been very concerned about this myself, since Jason decided he simply HAD to be one, just to be a pain. -_-GormanGhaste wrote:Color-changers are going away, but I don't know if one tamed before MoP will keep changing or not.
Unfortunately, the beta isn't letting me log in, but once I can, I'll check my new copy.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who can't sign on.

Last time it was checked (maybe 3 builds ago now), colour-changers that were tamed on live kept their ability when the character was copied to the beta. But the same mob tamed on the beta stays the colour you tame it as.
If it stays that way then legacy colour-changing tamed pets will keep that ability. You just won't be able to get any new ones.
I hope old pets retain it. I'm not a fan of colour-changers but it'd be nice for people who already have them.

According to petopia Gilnean hounds come in both grey and red and are supposed to be colour changers on live, with that gone in MoP we could then still have a way to get a stable red mastiffs.
However i went to check those hounds on live and despite what petopia says i tamed one and it doesn't seem to be a colour changer anymore but just a plain grey mastiff, did they change them without us noticing?
If that's the case then we can only hope that the new version of Scarlet Monastery will revert to red mastiffs.

Ooh, do let me know if anyone finds out :O I've always liked the Sentry Worgs in Icecrown but never really bothered making stable space for them. I did have one briefly who was named Indecisive >.>

if anyone who wanders into the thread wonders which pets are color-changers, by the way!

What Wain said.
I completely forgot about that thread, since at the time, it didn't impact me at all.
So now I know what one of my first stops will be after Pandaria comes out....*eyes Jason and sighs*

I re-rolled my goblin hunter last night just for the color changer raptors since they're going away. I will try and get into beta and see if her raptor still color changed and post on here.

It's beta so color-changers not changing in beta may be a bug or a temporary thing and they'll allow them to change in the live release. It isn't conclusive yet.

We've discussed color-changers on this thread, and the official word seems to be that it is deliberate.Bristlenose wrote:It's beta so color-changers not changing in beta may be a bug or a temporary thing and they'll allow them to change in the live release. It isn't conclusive yet.

I rolled and leveled a goblin hunter specifically for the color-changing Spiny Raptor, so I sincerely hope that they keep "legacy" changers.
