WoW Petopia Community

Does anyone remember who modified the ghost saber for Mania to use on the header? I know the saber itself was commissioned art, but I believe the sign it's holding was added by a community member.

Alternatively, does anyone know what font that sign is using? I'm trying to at least find a close match.

Closest I found was Troy3-roman font...but the "F" doesn't match...

That font looks great, Makoes! I may use it anyway. What I had planned was to have another saber (mirroring the current one) on the right side of the banner with a link to the main Petopia site. The text (in my head at least) would contain an arrow pointing off-page and something like "Petopia Guide".

I'm open to suggestions, though I just want something more permanent this time, as the little button I added last time was erased in the last update.

What about "Bestiary" or "Bestiary Guide"?

Although the same ghost saber, but reversed would be symmetrical.

Well I'm no artist, so I certainly wouldn't be doing it, but I had considered using a different image and it's a good thought.

But it's a matter of finding/creating art that matches. No matter how good it is, if it's not in exactly the same style it's going to look a bit off. The artist who created the ghost saber also created a series of other pieces (for a Petopia calendar). Unfortunately the styles vary a lot between creatures, which is great for a calendar but not great for them together on a banner. Maybe the pink tallstrider (which Mania used to use on her blog) would work...

Maybe you could host an "art" competition, and ask people to try to do something in a similar style to the Ghostsaber?

It might be fun, but I don't really want to spend that much time on it right now. I just want to get a link up and get back to other things that are demanding my attention

If you need art, I'd be happy to donate it to the site, since this is where I always snoop to see what I have to camp next.

Thanks. That's a generous offer We do have some talented artists amongst our community.

But for now I want to keep it simple. Also, I think it should match the style of the existing one, which is much harder to achieve. Even if the new art was really beautiful, the effect could be jarring if it was in a different style to the ghost saber on the left.

Also, it's just easier if I keep it simple as more complicated changes would have to be continually vetted by Mania

It wasn't to hard to turn this around, rebuild the scroll & feather.
Only "bestiary" was to long!



Oh, by the way, Karathyriel was a guy.
And he hasn't logged in because he was very angry because of something I don't remember.
He insisted on Mania to delete his account, so he couldn't log back in, even if he wanted to.

I know hat for sure.
