An’seranche the Spiritbeast
With the Cataclysm tearing the land asunder, elemental spirits of old have been awoken in the lands of Azeroth.
The elders once talked of a strider, touched but the gaze of the right eye of the earth mother. But it was so long ago that all had but forgotten. The scar torn across the barrens was so deep, that it and the lands surrounding it are once again, stirring with rumors.
Born of Fire and Sun, An’seranche is free once again.
I chose the name An’seranche from the combination of the sun in Tauren mythology and the similar ending on two of our already in game tallstriders, “ranche”.
Originally I wanted to have an “upgraded” Mazzranache feel to it, but then (not that I don’t appreciate all the work done by blizzard thus far) I didn’t want another re-skinned model. One thing that sets Loque’nahak apart from all the other SB is that it was a purpose build model. People really tend to enjoy that more than that of a re-skin from what I’ve heard/seen and read. That said, Loque’nahak is still awfully similar to that of a kitty, so that still let me work with many of the ideas around tallstriders that are already in play, but still keep the model individual.
Below are some of the things that I took into account regarding some of the design directions

I still wanted to keep the beak/plate that makes all tallstriders unique, however in the An’seranche design I wanted this to be its place of power. Upon the front of its brow, is a well of heat and light that it channels its energy and spirit strikes from.

All Tallstriders also have that little tuft of hair/feathers/fur on their head and I wanted to make that a point of prowess on An’seranche. It’s headdress like plumage that emphasizes its beauty, speed and presence.

Keeping in the theme of the tallstriders the design also follows the same hair/feathers/fur growth down its neck, front and back, and over its shoulders into full plumage to radiate its fiery mane.

Tallstriders little wings are just too cute, and An’seranche’s are no different.

Where the spikes on the tips of tallstriders wings once were, An’seranche’s have evolved a bit further and have grown into streamline feathers in order to help it move in the speed of battle.

Similar ideas of the evolution of the end of the tallstriders wing tips and chest play out with its tail of fiery feathers

Many other small details like the creases of the upper neck, spots of the face etc have played their roll in ideas and design elements in the final design of An’seranche
