I think here would be a good chance for another family that uses Sonic Blast as their family skill? Give us more variety and a chance of not having to make-do with a bat if you'd rather prefer reptilians to mammals.

And although the species are completely unrelated, there is evidence in fossils that shows that some breeds of Pteranodons actually walked/flew like modern day vampire bats.
Not to me personally, mainly because they are also very terrestrial? Also probably because I can't see these things ever being tameable. Ever. Even though they look really nice, they remind me too much of protodrakes and we never got those either. :c
But Proto-Drakes belong as relatives of modern Dragonflight Dragons, what with Galakrond.
Pterodaxxes/Pterrrorwings aren't related to anything like that, they just have similiar skeletons.

There are hunters with shoveltusks in Howling Fjord, but we don't have them.
Shannox has elemental skeletal dogs and we don't have them either.
In short, no, Blizzard does not have to make anything tameable just because NPCs have them.

This is true, yes. Personally, I never thought it meant we were gonna have them. It's just such a tease, and I hope they at least consider making Pterrorwings tameable. :<

Shannox is an elemental himself, it's only natural he would be able to tame some elemental stuff we can't.
No, Blizzard doesn't have to make them tameable, but it would pretty darn nice to keep the immersion.

Speaking as a former tank, the "flying" pets can get really annoying, and the pyterrowings would be really bad. That said, I'm a bit surprised I haven't seen a lot of tanks complaining about stampede and dire beast, dang hard to see what's going on at the boss these days.

Not necessarily, as currently all the Pterrorwings that function as pets for the NPCs use the ground posture rather than the hovering, flying posture. This of course doesn't prove anything, but if we were to ever have these models as pets, the chance of not making them be the "Chimaera version 2.0 wing clip" does exist.

It's only a problem if you don't have your camera at max distance. Even then, as a tank you're in front of the mob while the pet is mostly behind it.
