They did an interview with him where he stated that they wanted to update frogs and snakes (and maybe others).

For people's knowledge, this snake seems to be being used for the 'Elder Python' pet. Not sure if it shows up elsewhere as well.

So beautiful! I’m so happy to see things started to get a model update. As sentimental as our box-faced kitty’s are, after taming my mop tiger Samantha- I have started to cringe at the sight of many of the old world models. It is defiantly time for a graphics update. I hope that we will start to see the new models take over- one baby step at a time. If this is what the snakes look like then I can’t wait to see the frogs! (Will they have eyes now? I bet they will have eyes. Omg frogs with eyes! xD)

there's those beautiful giant elite snakes (Bamboo Python) in Jade Forest.. those are realistic and quite beautiful. maybe they'll make those tamable?

Well, the old snake model is not that bad. I don't know what Blizz doesn't like about it. Looks 100% better and more realistic than the cobra serpents anyway.

Its not bad, but not great. Definitely MILES better than the bunnies/squirrels/groundhogs/frogs/toads. God those boxy angular things are so bad. XD

The old non-cobra snake models are decidedly clunky, and they turn by spinning in the middle. I remember having hysterics when I first saw that guy in Wailing Caverns who had about 6 of them, it was the weirdest thing I'd seen in WoW to that point. Maybe this new model means that they'll also get a makeover, and we will get out non-cobra snakes at last.

I'm sure it's a mini-pet model and very nice but I don't see anything that bad about the old ones. Even the frogs are okay to me.

Also to comment on the off-topic of the tameable cats. I still love my Moonstalker and use him often. The old cats are Sabre cats, the new ones are Siberian Tigers with smaller fangs. Both are equally nice in my opinion.

The older snake model really is a VERY basic design. In theory it should probably look terrible by now, but it was designed so well that I think it still looks pretty decent blown up. Whoever did it did an amazing job with the specs they had to work with.

But the file is tiny, 128x32 px. Compare this to the new python skin file, which is 512x512 px. There's obviously a lot more they can do with the new one and they can magnify it more easily.

The old frog doesn't seem to hold up so well when examined closely. Basic things like eyes have been stretched over jagged polygons to the point where they just look like blurry patches. The skin file is actually only 64x64 (as opposed to 256x256 or 512x512 for most regular beasts) so there's probably not much they can do with it now.

Those snakes are very pretty! As much as I wanted one in-game, at least I have my real one that I can see every day and hold and coo over because he's the bestest snake EVER! :3

Just one skin in the database doesn't give me a whole lot to work from but I can see what I can do

Seeing the new snake "skinned" I really can't wait to see the new skin implemented on a bigger snake model, like those giant elite ones from Jade Forest. A tiny critter model just doesn't allow for all the appreciation this design deserves.

And yes I /need it tameable
