Isle of Thunder changes (new crab looks!)

In the latest patch, the crabs on Isle of Thunder have got two brand-new looks. They've been renamed to "Luminescent Crawler" (from Sandsnipe Crab) and now come in a very freaky but cool electric purple or blue! They fit the island perfectly.

I'll have to check to be certain, but I'm pretty sure they're DeepSeaCrabBiolucentPurple and DeepSeaCrabBiolucentBlue, respectively, which are actually the two skins that are normally used underneath the other skins to give the purple or blue markings on the crabs. But they look pretty cool exposed like this!

This will be Noah's work, of that I am certain :)

Also very cool to see a bright purple pet. There aren't many quite like this.

Also noted that there's a new devilsaur NPC wandering the island: Bloodrender Devilsaur, which has a troll rider (no saddle). It can be tamed and the troll despawns. It's a 90 elite, ID 69148. It's the black with orange stripes type of new devilsaur. I've seen it around the Shado-Pan camp in the Diremoor. One seems to come in to attack now and then.

Also, the Shaol'mara and Zeb'tula Raptors are now beasts instead of humanoids. They remain the regular old-style purple. Neither is tameable.

Right. Time to get myself a crab! I can't decide which of them is more awesome though...

And by black raptor with orange stripes...do you mean: Image?

Thank you for the information!

No, devilsaur, not raptor :) So it's the same new style devilsaur you can already tame on the Isle of Giants.

That riding raptor is used in the new zone, but is untameable currently. The green epic mount raptor is as well.

Darn it. Sorry for misreading in my excitement! And perhaps it's good that I won't have to have two raptors on Mozag. :P

Anyhow, the crabs are a lovely find, and I'm so happy to see them used in the game. Really gorgeous!

so any chance those raptor mounts might change into tameable beasts before the PTR closes?

Oh my that is a gorgeous, gorgeous purple crab. I can't imagine any of my hunters using one, really, but I'm so glad it was added!

Those are the two biolucent skins used as markings. They are actually used over, not under, the other skin to give the markings. Any part that isn't the glow is normally transparent.

Ah so that's how they work. Thanks :)

Yeah, it's definitely them. For the first time there's now capitalized versions of both skin names in the database.

I've added official pics of them to Petopia:

Veni, vidi, adamavit.

Just gorgeous. Thank you Kalli for sealing in stone my decision to tame both colours! Great video, as usual. :)

*grin* Thanks! The finished product looks pretty good with the crab poses - you'd never know that there was one blue one in particular who was giving me trouble...

If the colors share one ID, then you can tame a color-changer by Polymorphing it during the tame.

I didn't know that, actually. But as I don't really care for colour changers, it won't be an issue anyhow. I cleared a space for the purple on my goblin and the blue on my night elf. Decision making problem solved! :D

Thanks for the advice though, I bet that will be useful to others who can't choose!
