Skarr: Growing on me, but nameless.
And I totally feel bad running around with Cat. x_x I mean, I really like my cat. He's a neat gem cat and I think he and Sambas are my feline buds.
He or she needs a name. I'm thinking something Egyptian or Norse or mechanical.

Odin
Baldur
Tyr
Loki (No, that name belongs to Kirix)
Thor
Frigg
Idunn
Thiazi
Skadi
Set/Seth
Rajh
Isis
Osiris
Osiris seems cool, as he is god of the dead in Egyptian myth and Skarr is black, much like many people picture death.

I named my Skarr Amun. Tamed a non-gem cat in ZG and named him Ra. I love the Egyptian names. All my pets are named after Egyptian deities.
Khonsu (lunar god, also a god of time)
Mahes (son of Bastet the infamous cat goddess, and also a warrior deity)

Cool. I'll toss these around. I have a Titan though, my Terrorpene. I appreciate it.

Raoden?
Named after a book character who gets metallic skin at the end of the book. I named mine that. Or perhaps Gond, God of Forging and Metals from D&D?

Kuroneko...lol. Creative. XD
If you don't know the language well, I guess its pretty neat, but to me it just seems like you're naming it "cat". Still, grats on the Skarrs!

I've done similar things on some of my alts. I named a croc 'river' in some other language--it's been so long, don't remember which one!Grizzlefoot wrote:My hard camped kitty is KuroNeko, Japanese for, yes, Black Cat.

Re: Skarr: Growing on me, but nameless.
If you're okay with a feminine name (I don't see why the Skarr skin has to be masculine), I named mine "Bastet" after the feline Egyptian goddess, Bast.
"Cats were regarded as manifestations of the goddess Bast [in Ancient Egypt]. This Egyptian goddess had many roles, including the goddess of fertility, the moon, and also as the protector of all cats. She was referred to as 'Bastet' when in full cat form, as opposed to the representation of 'Bast' as a beautiful girl with the body of a human and the head of a cat." http://www.richeast.org/htwm/cats/Cats.html
"Bastet seemed to have two sides to her personality, docile and aggressive. Her docile and gentle side was displayed in her duties as a protector of the home, and pregnant women. Her aggressive and vicious nature was exposed in the accounts of battles in which the pharaoh was said to have slaughtered the enemy as Bastet slaughtered her victims." http://www.egyptianmyths.net/bastet.htm
I think it's rather fitting.
