Aoani's naming theme [*very* image heavy!!]

Today, I went on a taming spree. It began with me logging on to hand in a quest in Ashenvale, took me through Duskwood, Wailing Caverns, and Howling Fjord, and ended in Stranglethorn Vale with a photo op bonanza.

Now, I'm searching for names. I'm kind of stumped because I just recently came up with a theme for Aoani's pets. Back when we did our first RP thing in STV, I RPd Aoani as very fun-loving and naive (though I went waaaaay too heavy on the naive... :?), and I think the main feature I took from that was a joy of life that translates into falling in love with the details, the beauty of things... Anyway! Point is, Aoani's naming her pets in ways that are related to their colours. I'll explain as I show the pictures. At least five of her pets need names, and I hope you're all able to put your amazingly creative minds to use here cause I'm at a bit of a loss.

Image
This is Mizu, Aoani's Clutchmother. Mizu means water in Japanese, and it's inspired by the turqoise and orange, which reminded me of a sunrise over the ocean. However, I'm very open to suggestions for another name as Sarayana's Clutchmother is also named Mizu.

Image
Garnet - formerly Azzere. I'm not renaming her. She's the mate of:

Image
Lazuli. I'm not certain if Lazuli is male or female, it's being very coy about things.... but the two are very attached. They are named to match, though I'm debating Saphire (or Safira) for this one, depending on the gender.

Image
This is Aoi, my first pet. Aoi is Japanese for blue, a name chosen because of the blue under her scales. I'm not renaming her.

Image
Nero is the pet that really cemented the naming theme. He's a recent pet, but it was easy to find a name that fit him and worked with the theme, and I was kinda sold on the idea at that point. He's keeping his name, obviously. ;)

Image
This is Hokori. Her name means dust, and it obviously doesn't fit the new theme. I'd love a new name for her.

Image
Blackbird was a daggercap hawk, Tarnah and I made the trek today and tamed one each. :D He's keeping his name. :)

Image
While we were doing our victory dance in Howling Fjord, Fionita mentioned that Naraxxis was up... Nobody wanted her, so I thought "what the hell..." Fio stayed by her while I hearthed, ported to Org, flew to Ratchett, sailed to BB, and rode up... Thanks! ˆ—ˆ I really, really, really love this spider. Her colours kinda remind me of amber, so I thought that might be a good name, but I'll open it up here.

Image
This wolf caught my eye as I first logged on and went to turn in a quest in Ashenvale. I'm really not certain what to go with here... something grey? White? I don't know. I'm fairly certain it's male.

Image
I specifically chose this raptor because of his vibrant colour. Kalli suggested Vert, but I'm afraid people will pronounce it like 'Bert', so... Much as I like it, I'd love other suggestions.

Image
Last tame of the day. I picked this one up because we were waxing poetic about ankle crack in guild chat... I love the ability and decided to go ahead and grab this fella'. I think it's female, and I'm thinking something silvery. Argent? Argentum? Ag? Something else entirely?

Thank you all in advance for any suggestions. I'm sure I'd be able to name them all eventually but I'm also certain they'll get better, more creative names with your help. :)

Bonus for those that read all that: I didn't even notice I had P.Dawg out in all my pictures until I was cropping them!

Oooooh lot's of good stuff there Veph! Thanks!!

I'm completely sold on Neela for Clutchmother, Dhaval for the wolf, and I like Kaltrina very much for the moth. ... and I actually can't choose between Shani, Kamala, and Talutah for the spider, they're all great.

The green-red color of the spider makes me think of christmas, so winter holiday themed names are another idea.

Emerald for the raptor?

And a quote from Just So Stories occurred to me when I was contemplating the croc:
"the great, grey-green, greasy Limpopo River"

The Limpopo is greasy in English? Haha. In Danish it's just muddy... ;)

Much as I like the name (and might use it for another) I wanted something stronger for the croc. I settled on Argenta - deriving from the metal but also from the Argent Dawn who work to protect Azeroth against the Scourge and the Burning Legion.

I named the spider Shani, and the wolf is Dhaval. I want to name clutchmother Neela and the moth will probably be named Kaltrina - though I need two certificates of ownership for that, and there have been none on the AH when I've checked.

Emerald is a great name, but I dunno... it's too much like Garnet and Lazuli, and I kinda want them to be the gems... If that makes sense. Thanks for the suggestions! :)

if a blue dragonhawk becomes tameable, I think I'll name it Lazuli

:D Very suitable. Lazuli is a great blue pet name since the stone has such variation in shading. If I ever manage to snag Aotona on Sara (not an actual project, more of a "I'd tame her if I got the chance") I'll use the name again. :)

Gah, I was going to make some suggestions, but now I can't do anything, since there is a very large crocolisk blocking my view of the thread. Bad Gumbo, you are NOT allowed to flirt with Aoani's lady croc. At least not while I'm trying to see. Can't you move just a little to the left? Please? No? Well, at least you're not putting your head on my feet...no, that does NOT mean you can put your head on my hands. thathmakesw itvrey hard to tyspes...sighl.l

 Hey Gumbo, don't listen to Kalli. You can come over any time. If that means I can get baby crocs without having to suck up to ol' man Barlo, I'm all for it. *wink wink nudge nudge* ;)
