Re: Legion pet lists
Shoveltusk FINALLY! Now to make a Shoveltusk mog (said the grown adult who has bills and shiz)
I find these new additions awesome and I am extremely happy, especially about Shoveltusks, but it does strike me as a little surprising.
Remembering Wain's recent polls about families that need updated/additional looks and families you would like to see added, there is an inconsistency. I know pet tameability isn't a popularity contest, however when none of the top 63% choices for additional looks and none of the top 52% of new families make it in, it makes me go "Hmmmmmm." Everything we got (except Musken and Mech) had a presence in the polls, but none were in the top half % in either category. Yet they made it in over much more popular choices.
If any group of people have their finger on the pulse of desired pets, I would say it is our group since we specialize in it. I find that interesting that their thinking process doesn't seem to be in line with the popular choices among a specialized group like ours. This isn't disparaging their choices of course. Like I said, it's clearly not a popularity vote and I am not saying they should cater to us because we are pet specialists. I believe their choices are surely deliberate, and the Alpha/Beta isn't over so theres more to come surely.
All this to say I would be very very interested to get a sneak peek into their process of choosing which pets/looks become tameable and why. Seems interesting to me that top popular choices didn't make it, but many lower choices did. My curiosity wants to know why. I know yak and shoveltusk made it because they are linked to the theme of the xpac. However not all additions have this logical connection.

Re: Legion pet lists
Is there any idea who of these pets will be exotic and only tameable for bm?
Re: Legion pet lists
Oh I agree with you. But I think the method of choosing is often dependant on what is related to the expansion as well as what players desire. In this case they saw a way of packaging a bunch of old, desired models with some new ones that will appear in the Broken Isles. Of course that hasn't been told to me explicitly and I can't see into their heads and I could be way off track. But I think there's some truth in it. Maybe well see skyscreamers yet. But if they don't feature in the Broken Isles then maybe not. (or maybe they do?).Quiv wrote:Shoveltusk FINALLY! Now to make a Shoveltusk mog (said the grown adult who has bills and shiz)

With mechanicals it was clearly a feature related to the debut of gnome hunters.
With models like the sandreavers, it's probably a bit different because they're just closing gaps in an existing family and not creating a new feature one.
And finally they will want to save a few old and desired things to release in future expansions too
Those are my hunches about their reasoning anyway.
But it's still alpha and families are only just appearing, so who knows?

I'm so excited about sand revers. I know they're an old model, but they're so creepy they're adorable.

Not a new tame, but just pausing to remember how nice the new ravens are. This is just a plain, old Upland Raven from Pandaria.
They don't much look like the originals, but in this case I don't find that too unreasonable, because the original was so tiny and wooden it would be hard to update it faithfully. Maybe a hunter who is really tied to their old raven would disagree. If you do feel that way I'd be interested to know.

I should also note that most (or all?) yaks and mushan seem to have sounds on clicking. I stupidly forgot to test this as I went along, but I shall from now on.
In other news. Oondasta not (yet?) tameable.

Re: Legion pet lists
That looks great. Still not as happy with them as I would with Dread Ravens, but they look really - really good. Finally considering getting one, now that it's not so low-poly/critter quality.Wain wrote:Not a new tame, but just pausing to remember how nice the new ravens are. Re: Legion pet lists
Glad to hear it, Loki! Maybe Giraffes will come later on in Alpha, or perhaps in the next expansion.
And wow, Wain, that raven looks amazing! It is pretty massive, though, and while I'd like to have my own "Giant Raven" pet, a smaller variation would be nice for the hunters who liked having a minipet-sized raven.

Love the new raven. If kunchong turn out being silithid, could someone check nerubian skitterer/spiderlings and fliers?
