Mechanicals & Other Races
So are we gonna have to wait until the expansion to create the item or is it something a max level 700 can already begin to make? Since the gnomes and goblins automatically get mechanicals )-:.

Re: Mechanicals & None Midget Races
Going to have to wait till Legion. It is a recipe you buy from a vendor in the Legion Dalaran for a new currency. And most likely, you'll only get the currency at 110. Most of the confirmed places to get it are only doable at 110.

Or pay for a race change.

I'm not quite sure what the poll offered has to do with this :/

Re: Mechanicals & None Midget Races
Was the generally-considered-offensive word "midgets" really necessary?
Re: Mechanicals & Other Races
True. I changed the title. I doubt any offense was intended, as I think a lot of people don't encounter the word often enough (compared to other slurs) to realize that it's derogatory.Bambu wrote:Was the generally-considered-offensive word "midgets" really necessary?

Thanks.Wain wrote:True. I changed the title.Bambu wrote:Was the generally-considered-offensive word "midgets" really necessary?
On-topic: I think its fitting that Gnomes and Goblins get it off the bat given their "affinity" for technology. But I also really hope the item for other races is easily obtainable for other hunters. Like, not ridiculously expensive on AH and engineers can learn the recipe easily.
Also, I think expanding it to "Gnomes, Goblins, and Hunters with X skill in Engineering are able to tame mechanicals" would also be nice and fitting. Would be odd for my max engineering main panda to be unable to tame them yet a fresh gnome herbalist/scribe being able to tame them no problem for example.

As I said above, the currency for the recipe is rare. Atm, it costs one Curious Coin to buy the recipe. After that, it takes quite a few mats to make the item.

Re: Mechanicals & Other Races
Yes, I expect it to be insanely expensive in the first week (tens of thousands of gold), but if you wait a few weeks the price will plummet. It's too bad it needs 20x Blood of Sargeras to craft. If it used non-BoP mats I'd happily craft them for other Hunters just for the mats, but the bloods are BoP and will be quite valuable for a while. For comparison it costs 2-3 bloods to craft a piece of armor, so 20 is a lot. I'd require a lot of gold to use 20 bloods for that instead of crafting and upgrading armor for raiding progression. The bloods are also used for obliterum (upgrading gear).

Re: Mechanicals & Other Races
Does seem a little odd that a fun little item just for hunters requires a material like Blood of sargeras, and so many at that. With armor costing 2-3 blood + whatever is required for upgrades, 20 for a new pet family that goblins/gnomes get for free does seem excessive...

I didn't realize the item to tame mechs requires 20 (wow!) bloods.
Re: Mechanicals & Other Races
The dinomancy tome was kind of too easy to get. Maybe the pendulum has just swung the other way. I guess we won't know for sure until we experience the drop rate.

Re: Mechanicals & Other Races
I do agree the tome was a little easy to get. The drop rate could have been a little lower as I saw tons of them just by randoms killing mobs around Oondasta while grouped up for her.
But I don't think making it cost a small fortune is the right way to make the item rare, even though the price will drop drastically (I assume).
