I envy THE HELL out of people who grew up in one place and have friends they've known since infancy. I made bloody sure my kids did.

No comment, besides...
Get Avast. It's free, it updates often, it won't give you random viruses.
And you can get a pirate voice for it.
Seriously, though. *DO NOT* use Norton. I had so many problems with that thing omg. Absolute rip off of an 'anti-virus'.

Norton put itself on my old computer recently when my dad set it to factory settings and it crashed the computer. >_>;Shalyth wrote:I've never encountered a problem with Norton (I use the 360 if that means anything) in the past few years but I'll definitely look into Avast. Re: Rant Thread
This. My Avast used to freak out with it. As soon as I uninstalled it and kept Avast, it's kept me safe since. I can't even believe they still try to sell you Norton when you buy a new computer. Seriously though, Shalyth, I've been using nothing but the free version of Avast for *years* and I've never had a virus. Avast has picked up on stuff before but has destroyed it before it can even do anything. I believe you can pay for Avast but all you really need is the free version. It updates it's virus definitions 2-3 times a day, it's easy to use and has a really tidy and clean interface. I do a quick scan once a day that's on a schedule, around 7 PM I believe. If my computer's off at that time it misses a day but it's no biggy. I do a big scan if I'm worried about something. Honestly, it's amazing.Junrei wrote:Norton is considered a virus by most real virus scanners. I'd recommend Avast or Comodo. They are the best of the best. AVG is...eh....okay....

They don't try to sell Norton to you, or at least not at the store I go to but I didn't know of any stable no-hassle strong anti-viruses that I could use in lieu of it so we went ahead and bought itSnowy wrote:This. Unrelated, yesterday morning a rock hard lump formed under my collarbone. I figured cause I slept on my side so much that night it mighta been fluid that got stuck there somehow. It hurt all day yesterday but not by much. It only sucked when I stretched. Today, the lump is still its same size but I can't even raise my elbow to my head's height and its actively sore now even when my arms are neutral and relaxed.
Gonna go to the walk-in today and see if I can get an examination on it, maybe an appointment for an x-ray. It hurts like a SOB to touch but it isn't a strange color and it's fairly evenly ball shaped. My paranoia is getting the best of me but when you can't move your arms without searing pain, I think its at least time to have it looked at XP

Re: Rant Thread
I honestly think that my BF isn't happy unless he has lots of things to complain about.
I've known him for 7+ years, he has fibromyalgia, but he hasn't gone to the doctors to get referred to a specialist about it. I am at the point where I really don't want to listen to him whine about how much he hurts. If he's not going to bother doing something about it, I really don't care anymore. Either go see the doctor or shut up.
He whines about not having enough money, but passes up the opportunity for a promotion because he doesn't want to work that close with management, but then does most of the things that promotion entails anyways, but without the larger paycheck. Stop whining to me because you don't want to work harder for a bigger paycheck.
I can't talk to him about anything since regardless of how much research I've done, or just want idle what-if chat, his opinion is the only correct one. If he doesn't think something is possible, it isn't and if I try to contradict him, I am arguing with him...and no matter what we are talking about, somehow he always turns it around to something I am bad at, and we can't do it because I wont be able to handle it...what?
I saw a house for sale and started wondering how much it was, and wondering what we could afford. He said there was no way we could afford a house and we should look at a mobile or condo. Um, excuse me, but we are in an apartment, I am looking for something where we are NOT just throwing our money away. We pay rent, why would I want to change that to a pad fee, or strata fee? I am trying to get AWAY from throwing money away like that, Why pay rent/strata/pad fee over paying for a house? Oh and then he say I won't be able to keep in clean. Look, we are in a VERY tiny apartment, 2 adults one small child, and a kitchen that barely extents past my arm length. Heck the couch takes up a good portion of the living room, not to mention all the other stuff we've crammed in. Of course its hard to keep clean, there's not a lot of room for anything! That's one of the reasons a house would be better, there'd be room for everything, a dish washer, a washing machine/dryer. Room for all our toys, and our daughters without it all spilling into each other.
He says he wants a house, a car, but he's not willing to do the things necessary to get them! It's not going to just fall into our lap! Things like this require planning, thought and taking that leap. And while he is good about telling me all the things he wants, he's not actually willing to do whats needed to get them. He'd rather go on vacation to Mexico or something every year then set the money aside for a house. Hell, at this moment we have enough for a down payment...but he's going to Vegas instead. Yeah, its your vacation pay to do with as you please, but why I am I the only one sacrificing what little I have, for the sake of the future?
Look, all of our parents are broke and struggling, and you say you don't want to end up like them, but your not doing ANYTHING to avoid it, and I don't want to get dragged down with you. So I have to play the bad guy and limit weekly spending, and limit when/where money comes out of for stuff. and deal with you getting mad at me since you don't feel you have a say in anything.
I am not denying that since you word 36+ hrs/week that you SHOULD be able to buy the things you want, what I am denying you is that we CAN AFFORD for you to do that.
I just really wish that he could stop thinking about himself (and what he feels entitled to) long enough to see what I am doing is for US. I don't restrict him any more/less then I restrict myself. I don't ask any more of him then I ask of myself.

And, just because I'm hugging my GF in the school courtyard doesn't mean you chicks have to stare at me :L it's kinda rude to stare from what I was taught. Like, what are we doing? It's not like I have her against a wall, just hugging her. My friend even said every time she glanced over there, they were staring at us.

Braces aint so bad. You get used to them. I had to have them for a year or so. The worst part was just the first month. You won't be able to chew any solids so be prepared for that. Get stuff like applesauce and mashed potatoes or other stuff that doesn't require chewing.Eternallylostx wrote:@Makoes; I think my mom does this: she takes a certain percentage out of her paycheck and puts it into a ''vacation'' account to save up for when we need something or go on vacations. Re: Rant Thread
And the tightening wasn't so bad either--a lot of people said they had a hard time with it, I was eating solid food like thirty minutes after the tightening. Granted, when they used a far sturdier wire it was a bit more painful, but still. The only times I remember it being really obnoxious was when the wire wasn't fully cut, so there was a small piece of it jutting out and it would stab the inside of my cheek. And it takes all of a day or two to get used to the braces on your lips and nonsense, but I never had to use wax cause it tore up the inside of my mouth.
But no, long story short, braces aren't that bad. A lot of people have 'em. And your mileage may vary. xD

Re: Rant Thread
You couldn't chew solid food for a *month*?! When I had braces, I couldn't chew anything properly for like... two days. o.o After that, all was fine. Apart from the fact that braces put me off eating soft bread, because any time I did bits got stuck between the braces and ew. Now I pretty much hate bread even though I've been braces-free for like seven years. xDJunrei wrote:Braces aint so bad. You get used to them. I had to have them for a year or so.
