Hunter Pets Becoming Mounts

I have suggested to Blizzard a few times and haven't had that much luck. A few years ago i came up with this crazy idea... What if the pets we tame could become our mounts.....

As cool as it would be, there would be a lot of in game complications from it as mounts usually have saddles and things. Not to mention, every other class out there would whine like no tomorrow if hunters got to mount whatever pet they tamed.

My idea for this was to have a hunter specific quest where you go out and tame one beast to become a mount. I imagine there would have to be some sort of limitation as to which beasts can be used, but I thought it would be kind of a fun element as a "master of beasts."

yea i was thinking the same thing.. just something silly and fun i was thinking. after i posted i started thinking bout all the coding and imaging going along with the idea..

You would see Hunters all over the place. It would be like the day that sparkly horse came out. Everywhere you look in Dalaran you seen the horse.

Yea, you are correct.. if i am thinking of the right one... i tamed this wolf in hellfire citadel. long ago and it looks just like my mount.

Well, alliance side you could do the wintersaber mount grind and tame one of these guys... Without the saddle, granted, but I rather imagine a mount would love to be without it's harness when it's not carrying someone.

I like the idea of the mount that is also a companion, but it wouldn't fly within the balancing of the WoW universe.

Coincidentally, I found the sea horse quest felt a lot like you were taming your mount, no?

I might be able to see ONE pet horde or alliance side that could turn into a mount. I could accept a special hunter-only quest for a special mount-pet, since paladins, warlocks, and death knights already have class-specific mounts as well. As long as the pet or the mount didn't have any other 'extras' other than switching back and forth from pet to mount (no extra pet attack skills, no faster mount speed, etc), I don't see why it would be the end of the world.

Mounting ANY pet you tamed though? That'd be tough. Especially since some don't really lend themselves to being ridden on...like the smaller spiders, or the moths...etc etc.

They could let us ride our pets like casters use their flying carpets, i.e. let us shoot while mounted, and also let the pet use its normal skills at the same time! How epic riding into battle like that would be!

I think you'd have to go out and catch one specifically for a mount, pets are scaled down to size; a tauren would easily break any one of my ferocity pet's back if he were to sit on one. XD

BUWAHHAHA! yea i find that when im on a my tauren... the poor mount looks like its going to buckle... LOL like during winters veil and u could turn your mount into a reindeer, yea it was scary...

Alliance - Duskstalker, Rak'shiri, Shadowclaw are all mountish
Horde - Battle Worg, Old Cliff Jumper, I think a few other worgs too.

So we already have some pets similar to mounts.

I think though the idea of the quest and being able to tame something to be your mount would be pretty cool, but thats just me

I wish pallies got to go out and "catch and train" the color of horse they wanted to be their mount... but then again i am weird...
