Upcoming reddit Q&A

Hi folks,
There is an upcoming reddit Q&A with Ion today in about 10 hours time. During that time I'll be working and not able to post a question about pets. Would it be possible for one of you guys to post it or a variance of it once discussed with the community? It's basically about pet utility and how the decision to lock pets into family trees has killed off a lot of variation for pets being used. In Legion for example any pet could be ferocity, tenacity or cunning.
The announcement for the the Q&A is here - https://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/9 ... _with_ion/
My question is something like this:
During Legion hunters had the freedom to use whichever pet they wanted and then spec that pet according to their needs (Ferocity, Tenacity, Cunning). As an example I used a mechanical spider in tenacity spec as my main solo questing pet. In Battle for Azeroth the decision was made to change hunter pets so they are once again locked into specific family trees/traits.
As things stand now, for solo questing Tenacity can't compared to Ferocity as the Leech is way more useful than the HP increase. The only Tenacity pets I really see are Spirit Beasts and that's because they're so useful in Dungeons and Raids. In Dungeons and Raids the Spirit Beast with a dispell and heal takes the default role with your Ferocity solo play pet as back up if Primal Rage is needed. With regards to Cunning pets I don't think I've seen much Cunning pets outside of World PvP gank squads.
To me, a big part of playing Hunter is the vast amout of pet choice and extra personalization it bring. I feel like after having a great system in Legion, we're back to having 1 or 2 default pet families to choose from because their Specialzation and Family ability combinations simply make them far more useful that others. Atm all I see is Spirit Beasts, Scalehides, Wolves, Cats and Corehounds. That's 5 different families out of a possible 46.
What are your thoughts on current pet variety/usefulness and would it be possible to once again allow hunters to just use whatever pet they wanted and then spec the pet to their needs/playstyle?
