A new item in Nazjatar, the Budding Deepcoral, allows you to use your Water mounts on land in Nazjatar. It costs 5 Prismatic Manapearls to buy (currency in Nazjatar). It lasts through logouts and etc. Leaving Nazjatar removes the effect.

I loved the concept of this at first, to give us more of a reason to use water mounts, but....I'm a little disappointed that it's going to be a consumable item. >.< I'm notoriously bad with those, I feel like I never want to use them, or like I'm saving them for a special moment. If it's going to be like this I might use it a couple times and then probably not waste currency on it unfortunately.

Another cool concept poorly implemented.

I'd rather they just start making aquatic mounts useful in more situations than the extremely niche.

Make most underwater mounts be capable of flying with some kind of magic. Same stuff that allows Abyss Worms to fly. Or make it mount equipment, I don't care. It is just silly that Tidestallions for example are so hyped up and have a cool model, but will only be useful whenever we're in an aquatic zone, which is super rarely. Having the jellyfish be able to fly, or the darkwater skate be able to glide through the water would also be pretty cool.

Or even make it so you don't get dismounted if you surface to breathe! I only ever use my turtle for underwater, because getting dismounted if I surface is too dang annoying.

Unless I'm mis-reading, this uses the same currency you use to buy item upgrade items, so... no one who pays attention will ever buy this, cause the item upgrade items are BoA, lol.

Probably one of the most poorly implemented flavor items I've seen.

So I know this is an old thread, and I can't recall if we actually discovered this at some point in another one, but I was so relieved to find that the budding deepcoral is just a one time purchase that lasts permanently within Nazjatar. Much better than what I had first misunderstood, that it would be a temporary consumable you'd have to reapply every time you left the zone.

It's been really nice to use my aquatic mounts more!

Ooh thanks for the info! I had the same assumption!

And with flying unlocked now (well, for some people!), it's wonderful being able to fly around in Nazjatar on aquatic mounts!

That is how it worked on the PTR.

As I said, this was an old thread and I don't think we'd reached the point of testing it yet, it may well have been mentioned later, I just remembered talking about it here and I hadn't been paying attention to the item specifically until it actually came to live servers, so it was a pleasant surprise. Just thought it would be fun to talk about again!
