Re: Shadowlands Alpha/Beta Beast Thread
Are Gargon still considered Stone Hounds? Because that's weird. It sets a fun precedent for unique pets that require certain triggers to be tameable within existing families, but at the same time it feels like a pointless limitation unless Gargons are the new Blood Beast.

If they are going to be their own family, are their abilities known yet?

Re: Shadowlands Alpha/Beta Beast Thread
Funny gargon ability ideas
Tenacity
Chin Smash(exotic)-smashes it’s chin against the ground, reducing movement speed around it, AOE slow
Stonefur-50% damage reduction ability
If wow implements, I’ll be dead
I hope they Revert cuz I think it’s stupid

Re: Shadowlands Alpha/Beta Beast Thread
They’re still Stone Hounds, along with quilen, but quilen are still tameable. So it’s just the Gargon model that is restricted, not the whole family

Re: Shadowlands Alpha/Beta Beast Thread
I feel like it’s the same challenge as a panthara, same learning method as a direhorn, so It could make sense in a way, but I’m still not fond of the restriction
Re: Shadowlands Alpha/Beta Beast Thread
The spider that matches the mount skin is now tameable in Revendreth. I'm not sure when it was set tameable, as most stuff there still isn't.
It looks fantastic, and it makes a really eye-catching pair with the Bloodfang Widow (2 million gold) mount from legion: https://warcraftmounts.com/mounts/bloodfangwidow.php
Also, I'm showcasing the new, VERY-purple Draenei skin!

Also, it's a bit frustrating trying to get good pics of your hunter with your pet in SL, because the pet is coded to turn its head towards you when you're close. You have to freeze it in position and move far enough away that it stops doing that, or it can look a bit weird and sometimes distorted (e.g. when spiders turn their heads, their fangs don't move with the head!).

Re: Shadowlands Alpha/Beta Beast Thread
So happy the classic widow skin is available now!
Also this sounds a little frustrating, as someone who takes a lot of screenshots with my pets. It's a good behaviour in concept, but I can see it interfering with the posing I tend to do. I guess I'll be relying on Narcissus even more in the future.Wain wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 1:35 pm Also, it's a bit frustrating trying to get good pics of your hunter with your pet in SL, because the pet is coded to turn its head towards you when you're close. Re: Shadowlands Alpha/Beta Beast Thread
If the pets' head tracking is a hassle, why not use the Move To command and step away from the pet while using Eagle Eye? This combination is spectacular for getting screenshots of models.

Re: Shadowlands Alpha/Beta Beast Thread
Oh, I meant the screenshots I normally take have my character posing close right beside the pet, it'll be a little annoying for those.WerebearGuy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 3:33 pm If the pets' head tracking is a hassle, why not use the Move To command and step away from the pet while using Eagle Eye? Re: Shadowlands Alpha/Beta Beast Thread
Yeah, it’s only when you want a pic of your hunter with the pet that there’s more of an issue. You don’t have to move *too* far, but it’s still more awkward.Vephriel wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 4:16 pmOh, I meant the screenshots I normally take have my character posing close right beside the pet, it'll be a little annoying for those.WerebearGuy wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 3:33 pm If the pets' head tracking is a hassle, why not use the Move To command and step away from the pet while using Eagle Eye? The pic with the spider mount was also difficult because Move To breaks once you mount, and the spider mount is so big the pet ends up under it

Re: Shadowlands Alpha/Beta Beast Thread
I kept giving feedbacks on that, but... At the beginning, the pets only turned their head if you targetted them, which was nice as it was a bit of "Hunter and companion trade a look" (since the hunter turns their head too), I don't know why they changed it.
Re: Shadowlands Alpha/Beta Beast Thread
A couple more finds tonight, in the open version of the Maw.
Firstly, tameable Mawrats!
There's one tameable mawrat NPC, in just the one teal-grey colour, but it's a start As expected, it's a Rodent. It seems to use wolf animations/skeleton.
The second new look is a lighter colour of soul seeker than the one that was tameable in the SL starting phase:
For reference, the previous one is very dark in bright light:
The Maw is still pretty unpopulated, so it clearly isn't finished yet (unless something went on with my phasing because I hadn't done all the leadi-in quests). But it means there's a good chance that there'll be more fun things to tame by launch! Hopefully we'll see more colours of mawrat (there are three others and they're all prtty nice: https://www.wow-petopia.com/shadowlands ... od_mawrats ) and the last colour of soulseeker (grey: https://www.wow-petopia.com/look.php?id ... hound_gray ). I'd also love for shade beasts to be tameable, but the only ones I've encountered so far have been classed as either undead or demons.

Re: Shadowlands Alpha/Beta Beast Thread
Awesome, a giant mawrat, and I’m still hoping I’ll get in beta soon and test every beast for myself, I am most excited for eyes of the beast hunter spell, I hope they implement it as soon as possible, all the possibilities I can do with that spell will be endless and always fun, and will keep me from getting bored while waiting for a BG, dungeon, and raid, I hope I can have a Gorm Ghuun soon enough, and waiting for the pale soulseeker to be mine

Re: Shadowlands Alpha/Beta Beast Thread
I'm super excited about EOTB too!! I've been waiting for years to have it back. :')
Also now I'm curious how the head turn behaviour will behave when using it.

Re: Shadowlands Alpha/Beta Beast Thread
Same here, I wish marsuuls were a bit bigger too, but if the mawrat becomes small, I won’t be impressed, and I will replace my hyena with that thing since it has the same skeleton, and same type of abilities, and both are cunning, I hope blizzard makes it a good size, like a wolf or a dog, not marsuul sized

Re: Shadowlands Alpha/Beta Beast Thread
Aw, I was actually hoping they'd get smaller. I think their model is a little lower res than most creatures so I feel it would look better as a small critter, not super small but, a cute little anklebiter.
