Why wouldn't they still be tameable?

It's been reported since the minipet appeared that they're still tameable.

I'm just not sure why that's come up in the (necroed) parrot thread. :P

Seagulls aren't even in Deadmines, so there's absolutely no connection between them and the subject of this thread.

Durh yourself. :P

Godamnit I'm gonna end up as a Owl/Parrot/strider hoarder at this rate.

I'm gonna need a Hunter alt that only has bird pets.
My main's a Druid so I of course love critters. That counts for something right? Right?

Rest in Peace Yasindra/Ryai

Do the monkeys still keep the pick after taming in the latest patches?

I didn't see it mentioned, but are the mining monkeys in Deadmines color-changers like the ones in STV?

Yes, and yes :)

I just went to check then and indeed the colour is stable. All four monkey colours are present, and have the same name, but upon taming, you always get the colour you originally tamed. There are four versions of "mining monkey" on cata.wowead, each with a different skin colour, so that's probably why. The devs who did this obviously knew what they were doing :) And yes, they keep the pick.

... and yes, the colour of the Vale Howlers in STV is still unstable. I wonder if there are stable versions of all four skins somewhere.

Really?

I had one tamed from a few weeks ago, and when I summoned it after this patch (13117) the pick axe was gone.

Guess I'll have to go back and try a new tame.
