Putting out an APB

Unread post by Yaone »

Has anyone at all seen Olm the wise since the servers came up Tuesday evening? I have a char camped there for when I take off to tame something else in case Olm shows up... I don't care if you didn't tame it or killed it, just want to know if anyone has seen him. I also peeked around to see if death howl and mongress made an appearance and no dice there either.

It's a rare spawn hun so chances are, you'll be waiting 24 hours sometimes.

Aw yes I know Olm is a rare, but unless they changed him it would be over 48 hours with no sign. For a rare in Felwood. And used to see him all the time out there before the patch.

I am not making sense, hope you understand, sleep deprivation. ><

There's a saying about love. If you go looking for it, you'll never find it. If you aren't looking for it, its always there.

Trust me.....I had this issue with Rak'shiri.....saw him all the time on my druid. Now I wanted to tame him on my hunter....yeah he was never there....still wasnt.

I didn't see a single rare last night, not even ones that are normally there all the time. Either the patch goofed up their spawns, or everyone and their mom is looking for Ironback, the rare turtle in the far reaches of the Hinterlands. X_x

I think the main issue is that the servers go up and down and keep getting restarted. I know the US servers were down for a bit so it will screw up the spawn timers of rares. And its... annoying.. I want Dart to spawn but with how fickle these servers are its going to be interesting. Needless to say I found Gondria wednesday morning, untouched tottally fine. Dart on the other hand is proving difficult.. as seems to be a few of the old rares. Popular pets like Takk and Humar will be difficult to find for a few. But then again it depends on your server.. Sas's server is always filled with hunters trying to take the ones I want.. Saons.. not so much

Ok, I am sorry if my post came off as a whine or "give me a reason something hasn't spawned yet" I never intended it to seem like that. I was just asking if anyone has seen it. And the reason why is that I have been basically around for over the last 48 hours and not seen anything. And there was the small reason being that I never once seen it on the ptr the whole time I was on there.

Edit: I did see Dart Wednesday morning and Ironback later that day. Rak I did pull up just to see the tame go off by a lowbie horde hunter so have personally seen all them in the wild~

Oh no no its not whining. I went to look for Olm yesterday to and didnt see him. Thought it was odd as well.

Ive seen a few rares.. but when the serverrs reset and shut down they screw up the spawn timers so most of the time spawns are reset and if say a rare is suppossed to spawn between 6-8 hours it may just take that long.. its extremely frustrating and annoying lol. Orm aybe Im just missing Dart or something.. I dont know..

Ill keep an eye out for Olm.. hes gotta be around somewhere.

With the rolling restart on my realm this morning (which was still down as of 8:30 a.m. EST), and Gondria respawns anywhere between 10 and 24 hours (so I hear), I could "expect" another spawn anywhere from 7:00 p.m.-ish to tomorrow morning. That works out, actually, since I get home at 6:30 p.m.

Well, I don't honestly expect to find her right away. This may turn out to be a weekend camping adventure!!!

And to the OP: I didn't think you were whining. I was curious about these "missing" rares as well. :D

There is definitely something wrong with rare spawns I think. >.>

Last night I was camping for Naraxis, the spider in Duskwood. Every time I've gone to see him in the past he's always there. Well, I checked for hours intermittently and nothing, not this morning either. I'm also trying to find Goretooth the croc and haven't seen a scale from him either. I heard Dishu and Clutchmother were MIA as well, which is VERY odd considering those two are almost always up.

Yeah, that's what made me think something was up, too. Rares that I know are up 90% of the time I look (such as Hayoc who is so out of the way I don't think anyone looks for him) weren't there. I didn't think to look for Strider Clutchmother or any of the shorter respawn time mobs, but given your account, I'd say they're borked up right now.

Though curiously enough, I did see one hunter with a freshly-tamed Nuramoc out in Storm Peaks. At least, it's safe to assume it was a relatively recent tame. It was level 77 and still had a name of "Chimaera". I asked him if he got it recently and his reply was a little vague (something like "I released him before to make room then tamed it again"), but I assume it was a recent tame. So who knows.

I saw a ton of rares last night so I think theres nothing wrong with them. Remember now, with the 24 stable slots, hunters of all types are on hunting sprees.

Last night I tamed Snarler(Feralas), Takk The Leaper(Barrens), Shadowclaw(Darkshore), Nuramoc(Netherstorm)

Snarler and Shadowclaw were already there when I got them. I had to camp for Takk and Nuramoc.

I did not, however, find Rak'shiri.

I went looking for Old Cliff Jumper yesterday. 14 or so hours out there with nothing, and everyone whispering to me "I always see him when I'm questing on my alts. Every time." It was night in game and EVERY wolf looked dark grey. First time I've ever really camped and so I got a little loopy. Never did see him, finally called it at about 4am, as I was falling asleep on the keyboard. Hoping today's restart will give me a better grasp on the time frame I should expect him.

Every time the server resets or restarts it screws up the timer on all rares so thats why its fickle to find them if the server restarted.
Hence: Server restart at 7:50. Dart Spawned at 3o clock. No chance he was tamed inbetween that time. Thats his entire spawn time so your looking at an entire restart of the spawn timer.

So far, for my Deli, I have been unsuccessful finding Rak'shiri, Ripscale, and even Vultros but I did find Takk, Darkmist Widow, and just a little while ago, one of the rares in Hellfire. I am gonna checking to see if Rak is up this time.

EDIT: Nope, no sign of Rak, so I ended up taming one of the pride watchers. They are just as gorgeous. Part of me is saying it's gonna be temporary until I find Rak, but I have already started to click with her. Her calm moanings when she stretches does sound cute.

So do server restarts effect the time frame?

Asking because... Wednesday morning server restart Ysera 5am, 15m time frame or something like that on servers back up; I log on...

Prior I parked both my hunters on completely different servers in Winterspring for Rak'Shiri; logged one on barely looked there she is "Tame"....logged my other hunter on didn't even have to look there's Rak'Shiri "Tame".

Today, 5p server I'm on a completely different server talking to a buddy who's got a hunt, on vent about Silithid Ravager that gauging on the time he should be up at about 2p pacific (5p server), & there she is for me on a completely different server, timing on the nose, where as on the other server there's Silithid Ravager for him around the same time.

Some server restarts affect time frame... a lot of the northrend rares seem to be based on a server restart timer (there are some that are up immediately on a restart... restart +6 seems to be common too, but it's not exact). I don't believe all of the rares have this feature, but some (generally with the shorter spawn timers) seem to pop up reliably.

I finally got OCJ tonight, about 16 hours after restart, which is at the far end of his spawn window (according to the official WoW atlas).

After my streak of not seeing a single rare, I managed to bring Rak'shiri home early in the evening, and then Ironback and Hayoc around 2:00 a.m. EST. Still no sign of Gondria, but I'm not giving up!!!

Well it's Friday, and still no sign of any of the rares you can tame. I did put in a ticket to see if something was wrong and it got escalated within an hour, so not sure what that means but here is hoping if something is off they will fix.

I have also talked to quite a few other hunter friends on different servers. They did a 24 hour straight run looking for both Mongress and Death Howl. No sign of either one as well as checking for Olm.

I saw Olm but this was before 4.0 came out... regardless ya' I spent 17hrs out in Z'D waiting on my Cheshire kitty with no luck, however log on at 2a pacific, float around then check out Arcturis, get a whisp. 10m later 210a from a hunt in Z'D saying he, "just tamed Gondria & did a who hunt 75+" ... :( I did get Arcturis at 3a though, but back in Z'D today lookin for Cheshire.

When servers came up on wednesday though I did float around & picked up about five rares without having to wait long.
