Arcturus
Hi I am new to these forums so if I put this in the wrong place I am sorry. Ok well I am looking for Arcturus and was wondering if any of you guys play on Alleria and if you tamed him. If so I really would really like to know what time it was when you tamed him. Also if you play on a different realm I would still find it useful to know what time you got him. Thank-you all
.

Re: Arcturus
Arcturis seems to have one of the longer respawn timers in comparison to other Spirit Beasts. There have been reports of upwards of 72 hours for him, though I think average is closer to 12.
Anyways, the plus side is that he only has one spawn location. Though that can potentially lead to a lot of competition at that single site, it's easier to keep an eye out without having to move around or worry about other places. If you're not the type to pull a long camping session, then I suggest just checking his area every time you log in at random intervals. Eventually you will see him, and that method is less stressful and taxing on you. Looking at late times of the night is also best when there's less people online.

Re: Arcturus
Spawned after 12 and a half hours for me last night.
(Thankfully, I knew his spawn time, so only sat through the half hour.) His spawn before that was 12 hours, while the one before that was closer to 21 hours. This is all on Nesingwary as of late, but gives an idea of his possible range.

Whew, just saw a swarm of campers fly by. I think I'm getting close to the 12 hour mark. Someone I met today said she saw him about 20 hours ago.

Re: Arcturus
... why are people straight up annoying? While camping him I had one alliance wail his mount for 5 minutes, another park his huge butt on top of me, another meld next to me, another fly all around me, and another calling a few of his guild mates grief me. God good this is absolutely the most annoying rare I've ever set up camp for.
Re: Arcturus
Best to check in off hours. Like very early in the morning before work or school. I found mine at about 5am server time because I would log out at the location, and check every morning quick before work. Not too much time wasted sitting there.

I'd report them for griefing. GMs do take it seriously. least the one I had did.WildcatTM wrote:... why are people straight up annoying? Re: Arcturus
Thanks, all. It's been a good month for rare tames (well, going back to mid-October). This is my 3rd rare so far in so many weeks. Now I'm going to hunt Gondria, then Loq after this. That should round out my spirit beast collection. Originally I was just happy with Skoll, but with the increased stable and my desktop unavailable, I figured my laptop is the perfect tame machine!

Re: Arcturus
Um. On the melding thing ... I ... I just sit at a spawn point and sometimes a horde just zips up. I'm pretty sure I'm not griefing him. o_O I've gotten spit on by a few blood elves (Lookin' for Skoll myself to finish my rare hunt. King Krush is kool, but like 3 of my buddies are after him), had an orc flag in front of me and I hugged a Tauren. Just sitting together should be okay but I think mammoth mounts are both cool and a tool of the annoying masses. XPWildcatTM wrote:... why are people straight up annoying? Congratulations on your bear.

Edit: Asking because I'd... really hate to grief someone unwittingly.

Re: Arcturus
If you are sitting there camping a rare spawn, there's nothing wrong with that. If someone else is sitting there and you park there too, that's bad manners, but it's not reportable because you have just as much right to be there as they other person does, so long as you are not bothering or harassing them.Novikova wrote:Um. If someone ELSE is sitting there camping, you see them there, and you tell them they have to leave, or you bring in your buddies to try to make them leave, that's griefing.
If you saw another hunter trying to tame a rare, and you fly down to watch, that's fine.
If you fly down, shoot to take aggro, and kill the animal to prevent the tame, that's griefing.
So, the behavior you described would not fall under the category of griefing in my opinion, since you were just sitting there mindng your own business.

Re: Arcturus
I don't mind people camping with me. It's all fair game, but being annoying about it is just absurd since we're there for the same thing. I met someone last night and she was kind of enough to tell me she saw Arcturus the previous night and even gave me fairly accurate spawn timer, which gave me an idea. I was nice enough to send her an in-game mail to tell her the exact time I caught him in hopes of helping her out with her own hunt.Novikova wrote:Um. On the melding thing ... I ... I'm all for competitive taming, just don't grief me, emote rude things, flag up (this one never happened to me, not recently anyway), grab your guild mates, or annoy me with your mammoth. My god, 100 of those wailing were beginning to drive me insane.

Re: Arcturus
Fair enough. I've just had Horde buzz around me too. I could've blown the orc away - no problem, I had at least 10k more health but I don't feel up to hiding until my flag goes down or he accuses me of griefing. Honestly, most of the time I sit at a rare spawn point I'm windowed or alt tabbed doing homework or chores and listening for NPC scan or checking in for tells. I just might not notice. >>
