Serpent Color Bug

Has anyone else noticed that all Serpent pets appear to be much darker than they used to be? I'm sure some people like it, but I preferred the brighter colors. This has been around since the last big patch (or the one before, I don't remember), but I haven't seen a topic on it here.

Mayhaps most people aren't terribly big fans of Serpents.

Hm, I remember hearing something like this a while back... I can't remember if it was fixed or not. If it was, I guess the glitch is back. I don't have a serpent pet, so I wouldn't know from a first-hand perspective.

Yup, they've been "darker" for quite awhile now. Six months maybe? Not sure on the time frame exactly, but it's some kind of bug with the way the lighting works on the skin. The colors appear saturated and dark.

Yes, this is apparently an unintentional graphics glitch that so far has not been resolved.

The serpents seem to ignore atmospheric lighting, so they always appear to be in the dark. I know a few people actually prefer them this way, but I think I liked them better when I could see their colours more vividly.

I'm sure it will be fixed eventually, but I imagine it's very low on Blizzard's priority list at the moment.

Yep, they're still bugged.

It really ticks me off too tbh. I adored my blue serpent Dagon, one of my favorite pets ever. He had this beautiful silvery shimmer going for him. And now for months I haven't been able to enjoy him because Blizzard can't be bothered to fix their own damn mistake and reset the colours properly. This darkening effect really makes the serpents seem ugly and unrealistic. (Yes, I know it's a a stretch calling a 7 feet tall spitting cobra realistic, but still...)

Oh well, I suppose it gave me some time to lvl my new pets, but damnit blizzard fix my snake already!

yes and it makes me mad the wonderful preatty white serpents we once had are noww a muddy grey colour, it just urks me to no bits

Hrm....I'll have to pull Taigi's serpent out of the stable and take a look. It's been a while and I haven't used him since Zangarmarsh.

But yeah, this sounds annoying...they used to be so shiny and reflective, if they're dark and no longer vivid I will be sad.

That's good to hear, I really hate the bug. It has also effected the Kirin Tor familiar from the Dalaran books

What a shame, I liked it. Still, I missed the vibrancy of good old Hailfire, too. He'll be back!

I never noticed this bug.. perhaps a live/ptr comparison is in order? Any volunteers?

Ooh, glad to hear this. Though I can see why some people may have liked the darker colours, to me the lighting discrepancies just stood out too much from the surroundings and looked odd and out of place.

On my troll hunter and really like his dark colors even though it's not supposed to be even remotely that dark. I really don't want it to change. He looks great with my character this way.

It's no longer an issue, as of 4.0.1 they've fixed the lighting error.
