Trouble taming Gezzarak?

So I've been waiting to tame Gezz for a bit now and of course after hearing she was back for 4.0.3a I stocked up on time-lost scrolls and today I tried my hand as soon as the servers were up.

So I figured: "I'm 80 and after the recent changes that buffed my health, reduced the tame time on Tame Beast, and all that jazz...this should be easy "

I was rather incorrect. I knew she had a knockback but I didn't think a 72 elite would hit like a truck...I mean there's 80 elite mobs in Ice Crown that are child's play...so needless to say my logic was quite flawed.

After two failed tries I had my Spirit Beast cast Spirit Mend on me before i dismissed him, summoned Gezz and then proceeded to spam the balls out of Tame Beast...I figured maybe the hot would make me last long enough? I ate shit again lol. No deaths mind you but feigning death and then watching Gezz despawn, then having to abandon and re-get the quest.

I flew over to Shatt and got on Trade to ask for help but no one answered (of course not, they were doing their own thing) save one dipshit warrior who gave me the sagest advice of "use a trap"....I calmly explained that if I could trap her I wouldn't need help....anyway no one offered aid.

So one last idea...make Tame Beast faster? It was worth a shot.

I have a level 80 Core Hound, pop Ancient Hysteria, dismiss, summon Gezz, Tame Beast, bam. All mine.

It may have been luck as well but in any case it can definitely be done by this method.

So TLDR version: You can solo tame Gezzarak by popping a Core Hound's Ancient Hysteria before the tame.

Oh wow...perhaps I was just lucky, but Gezz didn't give me any trouble at all. I didn't even pop anything special...I just summoned her, hit Tame Beast, and she was mine before there was any fuss.

Gazz knocked me back once-and danced right out of my frost trap.

I'm a level 80 as well.

I ended up putting my back to a tree, waiting for her to come to me. One tame beast later and I now have her.

Keep trying? Good luck! So worth it, such a lovely skin color.

lol maybe I was just really unlucky cuz Gezz literally knocked me back about a half-second before Tame Beast finished each and every attempt and then proceeded to eat my face lol

But I'm glad I finally managed it. Maybe it was pure luck, but I figure if Ancient Hysteria worked for me then if other peeps are having trouble it might work for them too.

But putting your back against a wall or tree can't hurt either

What I did: Keep my back to a tree, pop a haste potion after making sure I had a stamina buff. She didn't have time to knock me back.

I got knocked back once, but easily got the tame off after that. Sounds like you had a lot of bad luck, but grats on persevering and getting your new pet!

Yeah, both on the PTR and on live I had no trouble, just waited for the first knockback, hit tame and won

It's funny, my friend and I ran into this. I tamed her in no time, just summoned and hit tame pet. Didn't get a single knockback and she just didn't give me any trouble. My friend got knocked back four times at least, and she was at 1/6 her health at the end of it. We both got her though!

I, too, thought I was faster than Gezz when I went to tame. I should know better with Warp stalkers. Summoned, began tame. Got knocked back, right into one of those wicker cages. Immediately hit Tame again, success. I guess with Gezz you can do two things, wait for the knockback and then begin, or just have your back to a wall/tree/cage/rock and hope for no surprises.

She knew how much you've wanted her as a pet and how long you've been waiting for this, Veph.

It took two summons and four attempts for me to get her. I learned the hard way that Feign Death will just make her laugh at you and despawn. Waited till I'd healed back to full, resummoned her, and tried again, she knocked me back three times before I got her on the fourth attempt. She nearly killed me even with the potions and baked manta ray I'd devoured which were left over from back when I got King Krush.

Man, oh how I wish it were so easy to get to Chromaggus, but I've now got my awesome purple-black warpie to keep me company till the day I can finally get my dragonpuppy. ^_^

I got her on my first try :3 Summoned Loki (The Beast), Ancient Hysteria, dismissed, summoned Gezzy, backed up, and tamed. She was only attacking me for about 2 seconds afor it went off.

Did you try using a trap?

You shouldn't need the quest to summon her, if this hasn't been stated before. I haven't touched a quest in Terokkar, other than the one for the Shadow Elixirs, and was able to summon her once I farmed the scrolls.

yeah, you just need the scrolls and you can click the bone pile. I chose the southmost point to summon gezz and put my back to the base of that tree, waited for the knockback and tamed away.

I just summoned her, hit tame, and she was mine. Had teh scrolls and everything stocked up ahead of time. Not sure if I'll have my new Shadow or my Ant Stryker out most of the time. I'll prolly hop between them.

I just did what I do for any pet that isn't trappable and has an 'interupt' to taming... Wait for them to do it, then hit tame. The CD on their ability should be longer than the 10s for tame beast duration.

Oh wow, I tamed her on my first try without any trouble whatsoever (she didn't even use her knockback) as a level 80 hunter in crappy blues. I was also pleased to note that you don't have to be on the quest to kill her in order to use the skull piles.
