To Advertise or Not to Advertise: Paying for a rarespawn?

How lucky, Kurasu, one whisper and a short wait. I could never hope to be that lucky (thus my nervousness with advertising as I'd probably draw all the bad eggs in like moths to the flame (the flame being my wallet)).

And I do see that side of the coin as well, Aquillian. There is a rampant sense of entitlement possessing a lot of people in the game currently and it is quite possible that some would feel they could hold rares captive for monetary gain. I would hope, though, that these people would not only be few and far between, but that any hunters in the zone would simply wait for the next spawn and give in to such an act, as paying THAT person would indeed further the belief that such a thing is normal and even acceptable.

I personally have found that if you say something in general chat about the fact that you are looking for X pet to tame it, and that you will tip anyone that helps you, it generally does more harm than good. I have had people whisper me saying "Just killed it 5 min ago" or something similar. Others will be other hunters and offer more than what you will pay- regardless of whether or not you say how much you are tipping. I have had persistence pay off and instead of saying things in general chat now I just keep looking on my own. IMO, it is more trouble than its worth.

I'll ask if anyone has seen the pet I'm after(though often then not it's not) but it was because someone said on the general 'I found Loque' that I have him...Course after that guy posted that two people said 'KILL HIM' so ya. >>; It's a risk at most.

Yes, that's a true point - whenever I ask if folks have seen rarespawns I usually pointedly ask them to whisper me. Or hope like hell that I find a person who isn't stupid enough to be all "I FOUND THE RARE SPAWN OVER BY XXXX" in General. Totally defeats the point.
