But I don't like beaches and don't drink alcohol, so can I go to a woodland cabin and drink hot cocoa instead?

Re: Views on Frostbitten ?
I have to admit, I killed King Krush once. It was back when I was first in Sholozar, and I honestly had no idea how rare he was -- I thought he was like the devilsaurs in Un'goro, there quite often, but a pain to find. Also, I only had 5 pets, and I liked my black devilsaur, so the green one didn't have any appeal to me. After I started coming here, I felt really bad about killing him when he could have been somebody's pet. So I've made it a point ever since then to never kill any tamable rares. Non-tamable ones, like humanoids, are fair game of course, but I just wouldn't want to think I'd messed up somebody's camp, and for what? Some lousy achievement points. There are lots of other achievements out there.
I'm really glad Blizzard *didn't* put in any Cata equivelent to Frostbitten. Now once people realize that rares no longer equal loot pinatas, maybe Hunters getting their pets won't be quite so difficult anymore.

Too bad they couldn't change it so the pets didn't have to be killed. Maybe you just tag them or something. They could give you a special dart gun when you enter Northrend and all you have to do is hit the rare once to Nessingwary can track it. Then it would stay alive for taming.

Re: Views on Frostbitten ?
I don't think King Krush would take too kindly to being shot in the butt with a dart gun.
I can picture it now......

Mmmm hot chocolate is yummy!
Back on the main topic I.. HATE (yes caps.. and I should bold it to.. there done it) that stupid achievement, because of the 10 other people (yes 10) who thought it was fun to kill that rare I had tagged and trying to tame, and wonder why they got nothing from it, or when I got feared and had to FD, went to go and tag it and some alliance who was watching for the longest time, go and kill King Krush.. after waiting 2 months, and 2k gold later I finally got my king krush. I understand that others "want there little check mark for a useless point to show something or other.." but id rather give that rare to a hunter whos been camping 6- over a year for that one rare because blizzard thought it would be "fun" and more of a "challenge" to add it to an achievement. Ive even had someone insult me because I tamed one of the rares, think it was Skoll, because I took his achievement point. To which I explained to him that Skoll wasnt apart of it.. not sure if he believed me, though on my main server there was this one guy with chars of the same name (just different placing Os) who had fun camping all the tameable rares and putting it up on the Auction house the loot. So it is a really really sore subject for me..
I mean if you look at this forum youll see "I finally got king krush after a year of searching! Or loque, or Aotona.. or even Skoll" there is nothing more heartbreaking then having your Npcscanner go off to see his corpse there, not that I am saying that people shouldnt go for those on the rare list if they want them. But to go out of your way to kill them just to greif.. aka the usual you have it tagged and the guy still kills it then either laughs, or says "I thought it was for the achievement, lol sorry or that it dropped a blue" when you had it tagged and it wouldnt have counted for him anyways... yah.. its a sore subject for me.

Re: Views on Frostbitten ?
While I'd personally rather want a beast to be tamed by a hunter who wants to actively use it as a pet instead of being killed, I can't really see the difference between killing Loque for an achievement and killing Jadefang for the non-combat pet. None of them gives you an advantage in anything and both are just for show.
Edit: And I do plan to kill Jadefang at some point.

Re: Views on Frostbitten ?
I love killing rares just as much as the nice guy. But I could never bring myself to kill a rare that I know is a highly desirably hunter pet. I know all too well the feeling of losing a tame you've camped days for just to have someone kill it.
Blizzard tried to fix the problem they created in WotLK but it wasn't enough.
I think rares that were clearly intended to be hunter tames should be non-killable. Make they friendly mobs that when only a hunter clicks on them you get a text window with a chat option, when that's taken the rare aggroes and then can be tamed.
Hunters are unique in the fact that there's a whole aspect of the class that is affected by other players directly. No other class has to go through camping a super rare just to have access to a particular skill. Then the other classes have resentment towards hunters because we do have access to unique pets, and because of that they think they have just as much right to these rare mobs.

I also wish that being near someone who tamed the rare counted for the achievement. Rare hunters get their acheesement and I get my pet. Everyone wins.

Re: Views on Frostbitten ?
Personally, people are going to be unsufferable twats regardless of there being an achievement involved. By that I mean snatching or even delibrately waiting so they can kill it infront of a Hunter. They get a kick out of being an asshat and nothing will change that.
That said not having them in an achievement for Cata has helped... ish. People have been long conditioned in, see rare = dead rare and through ignorance or lack of caring they will deck them regardless. The tear and lack of loot does seem to be helping though from the amount of people feeling gulity after it happened and spreading word around. If it means even one less moron to contend with that would oneshot anything that moves just to piss someone off I ain't complaining.
Is odd there's no "Go forth and deck the non pet related rares" achievement though, hopefully be something to make everyone happy sooner or later.

Re: Views on Frostbitten ?
Ugh. Very much against it since it involves killing rare tamables. If you actually GOT something out of it such as a pet, mount or maybe even a title or tabard, maybe then I would feel differently. otherwise achievement points add up to nothing but measuring and showing off your virtual 'wee-wee'
