Binder, not bender
And no, it's not from the emerald dream/the green flight's sanctuary, actually, it's an idea from a very very very old thread, pretty much the 1st "I wonder what the next spiritbeast could be, what do you think?" thread that was started by young Zangor, back when Petopia was still black and green and long before mania had even set up this current forum. And the idea was based around the WC3 unit that the nightelfs could place in trees (owl scouts, in fact I even added the gif of it within my post
And imo the emerald owls look amazing, almost that of a spirit beast skin, as with Blackmaw (sadly untamable) and even Terrorpene is just an amazing skin considering it's not a spiritbeast either (not that i'm saying it should be
I'm all for a different coloured/themed spiritbeast, that owl was just an idea that was actually lore probable, tis all.

I personally think a Salamander model would be cool from the mythic fire model not the dinky newt end. This would also alleviate the obvious anti-amphibian bias that exists in WOW. Is just a rework of crocolisk so not too much work for Blizz.
A mustelid pet (otter, weasel, mongoose style) in the Horseclans "Blackfoot" mode would be awesome both from the animation and spiritual aspect.
And from left field I was kinda dissapointed going through Vash that I couldn't swim up and grab a shark or orca as an "Aquatic only" pet. A spirit beat that discorperates on land and has a damage buff while under-water would be both cool and alleviate strange images such as Krush swimming. We know they can easily distinguish underwater from land etc through Breathe, Abyssal Seahorse and Druid aquatic form mechanics...why would a hunter take a land pet under water?

i just want to add my idea.. well not really my idea but a from a hunter i know. the suggestion is to have the next rare be from a current rare, Blazewing, currently its classified as an elemental flying around mt. hyjal. its in the model of the pheonix. so the suggestion is to have a new rare beast like it.... so can be any family, either spirit beast or even bird of prey.
i like this idea and personally i would like to see gyreworms tameable because i want to tame terborus
also i hope to see a special skin for bear and wolves and maybe even windserpents family because currently there's not special ONE mob unique skin out there that is rare.

Re: So What Are the Odds on the Next Spirit Beast, and When?
I absolutely love Spiritbinder's concept art, especially the "Tron" Raptor! I think that one would be the best for a new spirit beast, not only because I love raptors, but also because it would fit into lore.
If you talk to the Troll druid trainer in the Echo Isles, Zen'tabra, the one who helped out Vol'jin and the Darkspears during the retaking the islands pre-Cata event, she tells you a little about the Troll druids' backstory, and how a Spirit Raptor helped them in their gurilla battle against Zalazane. I'm not sure, but you might have to be a troll druid to hear her story. Either way, it's a good one.
I would love to see that particular spirit raptor, or his mate (a la Loque'nahak) as the newest spirit beast, because it would fit into lore so well. Maybe have him or her roaming the ruins of Zul'Gurub or another prominent Troll place. After all, cats (the night elf signature animal) and wolves (orcs) have been represented as spirit beasts, why not give "da voodoo" some love?

Actually, 'da voodoo' *does* get some love. Loque is the mate of a troll goddess.Cerah wrote:After all, cats (the night elf signature animal) and wolves (orcs) have been represented as spirit beasts, why not give "da voodoo" some love?

Re: So What Are the Odds on the Next Spirit Beast, and When?
i ran across blazewing while questing on day one, and almost pooped myself with excitement. but NOPE! elemental. oh well at least i got 1500 gold for the really good druid pants he drops!Nanaki wrote:Haha - I'm glad people like the nine-tailed fox idea. My guild liked it, too.
Of what I've seen so far from people, I DEFINITELY agree with the phoenix pet idea the most! I found Blazewing in Mount Hyjal completely out of chance, not even looking for him - but when I saw him fly over me while I was questing I almost freaked, wondering if he WAS tameable, like an undocumented Bird of Prey or something, so I immediately chased him down. I was very disappointed to see that he was classified as an Elemental and therefore, untameable.
If they don't make Blazewing tameable in the future, they should make another phoenix that is, in a more remote location so it would be easier for Hunters to patrol for it.

you know? i've been thinking of this exact same pet. nine-tailed orange fox with some effects to latch the orangeNanaki wrote:I'm excited and looking forward to the next big patch including a new Spirit Beast, whenever that may be...
My big idea that I want to pitch to a Blizz GM is a Fox Spirit Beast. But not just your typical transparent, ghostly one -- a nine-tailed fiery one. Something similar to how Skoll is blue and crackles with lightning. He'd be a red-orange with crackling flames and nine-tails.
I'm just being creative here. Who knows what will be next. But that's what I'd like to see. lol.
