Damn Griefers..... least I got a pet out of it

So I was in deepholm keeping an eye on jade for a friend when a nelf comes along and sits next to me. I tell her whats going on and since I was there first it should have gone to myself/friend. Well they think otherwise and decided that rather than let my friend tame they were going to tame it for themselves. Well they tamed Jade and I got upset.....I come back an hour later....friend wasn't online but Jade was.....No friends were on and no ally hunters in zone so rather than let someone else mess up the time frame i got myself a mini jade.

I have yet to figure out what to name Big Jade yet...

Was it wrong of me?

There's nothing you can do with rival hunters stepping in. That's all on the other hunter being rude.

Am surprised Jade respawned that quickly; no one's reported a timer that short before.

Just because you were there first does not mean that your friend gets dibs. Unless your friend was there with you and started the tame first and the other hunter inerrupted it, the other hunter had every right to tame it for themselves. *just my opinion*

That's how i figured it out to be as well. Was just frustrating as my friend wanted her for a while now. Oh well

I agree with those who stated that if the person who wanted to tame it wasn't there, you really have no claim.
I always vote the person who's going to tame over the one who wants the companion pet, but I don't believe in reserving it just because you are parked there.
If she was on and really wanted it badly, she'd be parked there as well.

I have agreements with hunters in regards to Madexx on colours, if the colour one of the others want, we whisper to tell them he's up if they aren't there yet, but if another hunter gets there first to tame, I'm sorry, you lost.

It's right up there with people who stand on mining nodes, not mining it, when I go "Are you mining that?" then they respond "Yes" so I figure they are just lagging and I move away, then it turns out that no, they were sitting on it to mark it for a friend. Very annoying >.>.
From now one, screw you, I'll take it if you don't tap it after my asking.

I get irritated if I've been camping a pet for awhile and then someone comes and starts camping with me-I mean I was there first right? But-its not really the way it is, for all I know that other hunter was camping there for hours before I got on. Still it irks some, if I see someone camping a spot I'll move on to one of the other spawn points.

And sometimes it is good karma. Case in point, I was camping Sambas for a few hours and this annoying goblin hunter comes to where I am camping and starts throwing down frost and fire traps to tag the mob first if he spawns. Finally got irritated enough and moved to another spawn point-where Sambas was waiting for me

It doesn't work with Jade, but if you are fighting over a spawn point sometimes it is better to just move on.

I'm sorry your buddy didn't get Jade, but congrats on the mini-pet. And it's nice of you to keep an eye out for Jade for your friend. I've been checking off and on for Karoma for my buddy. Managed to snag her Loque and Gondria by flying over, spotting them and then screaming in the phone for her to wake up and log in, lol.

I'll never understand why two people will camp a rare with a singe spawn point at the same time; it rarely ends well. Kudos to Korovae for not interfering, I guess.

Honestly? If I want to hold a pet for a friend, I'll tag and trap it so it's visibly claimed. It is far safer than simply telling someone.

I don't think they were a griefer at all, griefers usually do things to ruin other peoples enjoyment with no personal gain to themselves (well apart from the obvious). If your friend wasn't there ready to tame I think it's fair that the other person had a chance to tame the rare. It sucks but it's just bad timing on your friends part.

What does puzzle me though is that you said Jadefang re-spawned an hour after the tame? I didn't think rare timers were affected by restarts and the likes. I camped Jadefang consecutively over a few nights and saw 5 respawns in all that were all 12 hours apart. I'm not saying you're making it up or anything like that but its odd to see a rare back up so quick, I'm just wondering why in this case.

I did this with Aotona for a friend of mine. It was funny because I had her trapped for like 40 mins before they logged on. I'm surprised no one came by and killed it tbh as I was sitting there trapping over and over for ages ...drop trap, run 30yds, drop trap, run back, drop trap etc. When my friend finally did log on I grouped and said "come here quick", she thought I had Loque (lol let down) but she was still happy to get Aotona as well anyway.
