Pet Size Question

This is a question from an old school player who took a break from hunters towards the end of vanilla and just recently picked up the class again.

To my knowledge, in vanilla WoW, the physical size of your pet was based on some percentage and your level, example: your level x .25% = size or something like that. This made it so a level 60 hunter's pet was way larger then say a level 10's pet.

My question now is: Is this still the case? Is pet size still governed by level? If so, whats the formula?

From what ive seen yes, they do stilll grow as you level.

They do still grow as you level, however I've found that from 70-80 there is hardly a difference between pet size. If they still grow after level 70 then it's very minimally.

I'm not sure of the formula or anything.

i think it depends on the pet, because my friend(70) has ironjaw and my pet dakota (80) both old school wolf models and dakota was noticably bigger o.o

I akways thought it was 50% of model size plus 1% per pet level. I could be wrong tough.

I agree that it is based somewhat on model. When I tamed my first long-term pet (a cat) on Taigi, it was teeny. But when I tamed a worg from Elwynn on my new BE hunter, it barely shrunk at all! And compared to my character's size, he's still pretty big too.

But yeah, they do grow by level as well.

As far as I know they stop growing at level 60. Back in TBC a level 70 pet was exactly the same size as a level 60 pet, and now level 80 pets don't look any bigger than their level 60 versions. I highly doubt Blizzard would allow infinite growing for pets though.

Didn't Mania do this on her blog way back when? For sure it was before the new forums, but I have a vague memory (which might be caused by crossed wires, I'll admit that!) that it's Mania's work.

They for sure get bigger between 60-80, i did a test with my friend and we tamed two of the same models, mine (80) and his(64) were totaly diffrent mine was noticably bigger.

There may be other factors besides model and level. Has anyone compared the sizes of the same pet at the same level with a different race? Such as comparing Humar at level 60 on a BE vs Humar on a level 60 Tauren.

I don't think that makes a difference. Pets definitely look smaller next to a tauren than a belf, but that'd be because the tauren just towers over them...

I've tested it with a lvl 80 Northrend Worg (tamed by a dwarf) next to a Draeneis worg (same model, but different colours).
They were exactly the same size.

Mmm I noticed it a while back, running around in Shatt. At max level, all pets of the same model are the same size. My point was simply that the size relative to the hunter might look different, since some races will tower over their pets while others will have their pets towering over them.
