Does a faction/server change affect the pets ?

Unread post by Orni »

Well, I'm going to swith both, my server and my faction next week.
I need to know if something will happen with my pets because I really do not want to camp for Arcturis a second time ^^

Also, are any pet-skins existing that only one of both factions can obtain ?
Would be pretty neat to have such a pet after change.

Nope, you'll be ok, only thing that changes is faction-specific stuff, like mounts and pets (companions). They'll swap to the opposite faction's counterparts (Winterspring Frostsaber will convert over to a Ravasaur mount when swapping to Horde). Read the FAQ for sure, as things like the Argent Tourney resetting upon conversion happens. There is a list on the site iirc that lists what will swap over.

thx, I've already read the FAQ.
Just wanted to be sure nothing happens with my pets ^^

If you're Horde, Echeyakee is spawned by a Horde only quest. There might be another Cat in Winterspring with the same skin that Alliance can summon.

But if you're in the right place at the right time, you can still tame him as an alliance.

A couple of patches back, the Sian-Rotam/Shy-Rotam quest in Winterspring was made available to the Alliance as well as the Horde. It is impossible to tame Spot, the Theramore barking wolf, as Alliance - but the Mulgore prairie wolves perform the same barking behavior that he does, so it's not like his skin is particularly distinctive.

Tahlian here was originally a night elf that I switched to the Horde. When I logged him in after the faction transfer, all his pets were in his stable, completely untouched. Unfortunately, I had forgotten that I still had the Rhok'delar quest chain uncompleted in my logs...and the faction switch abandoned all his quests...destroying the three demon heads in his bank and resetting any record that I had even been on the quest in the first place. >.< So make sure you finish any quests of that nature that you might still have sitting around, lest you wind up like me, pondering if wanting to finish the quest is worth talking my friends into going back into MC to try for another leaf.
