Twilight Buzzard/Firebird

Unread post by Keilden »

Tamed one of each yesterday, they are tameable but you got to time your time right and use anything you got to speed up the tame or slow down the buzzard befor he is out of reach. Nothing special about them except they will still patrol for some time after the tame.

Interesting, more trick tames. Got screenies of the process perchance? :D For positioning and such, so we can get some verification tames. ^_^

They've been tameable for awhile (i think someone first posted about it when we were finding special aura pets.) They don't aggro you when you hit tame beast, but the channel of the spell will spin your character to follow their path.

I was able to tame several with good placement and concussive shot before taming, but it will probably take a few tries until you learn range and such. Any haste makes things easier but isn't strictly necessary.

Also for the curious, the jouster is a separate mob that despawn upon tame (think of the wpl hounds with foxes.) You can't special or macro tame to keep them.

Twilight Buzzard
Twilight Firebird

They're in a cave within Hyjal, the same one in which you get this achievement. This is the first quest that takes you to that cave.

Is there anyway to re-activate the birds in the cave? I've already completed the quest line and the birds no longer spawn in the cave.

Someone posted on one of the wowhead pages that once they completed the zone, they could get back in there and the birds were there. Not tried it myself, though, so if that's inaccurate, you'd need to be on that quest to pull this off.

I tamed one of the Buzzards while doing the quest today, but it seems to have a very strange behaviour. If I want to send it to attack a target, it just stands next to me, doing nothing.

If I do get it to attack a target (and I have to literally go in melee range of the mob for the bird to start attacking), then it only uses "attack", but none of the focus-costing abilities. (Everything is set to automatically attack though).

If I manually click the abilities such as bite/demoralizing screech, it flies to the mob, carries them out, and flies back to me, continuing doing nothing.

Pet settings are pretty much the same as for my other pets, defensive & follow, so all other pets with this setting run to my target and attack it til it is down, just this bird doesn't.

Any ideas why it doesn't attack as it should?

Try dismissing and resummoning it once, or failing that, let it die once. That *should* fix it.

T'was I. Posted them around that time because I was testing the tame/abandon/relog trick to see if the pet wouldn't spawn with a rider. Unfortunately, it didn't.

Its just one of those northrend vulture ones. Keeping one incase blizz one day decides to give them a model more fitting the firebird name:)
