NPC Scanner question.

Unread post by Worgraine »

First of all I am sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this but I was wondering, do I have to be next to the spirit beast for npc scanner to go off or do I just have to be within that map?

If you're within, or just outside, it's visual range NPCScan will go off. For some mobs it goes off at a longer range.

Yep, like Saturo said NPC Scan scans for visual range.

That depends on the mob mainly, and your latency. For example, all the NR spirit beasts have a pretty average visual range, so if you're in the general area they are in your scan will go off. If you have a higher than usual latency your system might not catch up til you're directly above the mob (happened to me with Madexx). Some rare spawns like... Putridus have such a huge "visual range" (even if you can't actually see them lol) that NPC Scan will pick them up from as far away as Dalaran. Some mobs like TLPD or Vyragosa are visible at a distance even when other mobs around them are not. Sometimes you can see a mob before NPC Scan picks it up (like I did with Aeonaxx). Huge variety so it's not entirely foolproof... I like to use a /tar macro at the same time as NPC Scan if I'm serious about finding something.

But yeah. Probably over-answered that for you. Usually it'll be in the general area of the mob ^_^ Haha.
