between my boyfriend and i, we are now up to 7 camels, all dust!

i was wondering, do we know if the "real" camels always spawn in the same spots, or is it totally random whether or not any given camel will be real or not? i only ask because two of the fakes i have found have been in the exact same spot.

I think its random, but that's coming from someone who only found 3 figurines. Please don't hurt me.
The fakes were in southern Orsis and Ruins of Kintoset and the real one was in Neferset. All 3 looked the same.

I've had two different spots have a fake camel there twice, starting to wonder if the spots where they spawn are fairly definitive. I want to find the real one so darn bad, I keep having dreams now about it Such an epic encounter, I want so much to experience! I mean, how insanely cool - you find this little camel figurine in the desert, click on it, and suddenly you're sucked up into a tornado and transported into another zone where you find this elite boss and you have to kill him all by yourself. The camel mount, and title are just extra bonuses to what sounds like an incredibly cool experience. I've vowed not to vendor my pile of dusts until I find the real one, I just hope they stack higher than twenty...

Just confirmed today it is completely random; my paladin, Linkarien, found a fake figurine in the same place Varethyn found his real one.

I've been finding one about every 6 hours on my server, give or take 15-20 mins. Still no mount tho I have noticed that if another rare in the area is spawned a figurine won't be up for another 6 hours. at least that seems to be the pattern for me so far. Not too many ppl on my medium sized server are dedicated to camping mounts, so the few of us mount hunters kinda have free reign.

Found my second one yesterday, dust, day before Madexx was up as someone said it in general chat, asked what color in a few seconds later the camle figure spawned, took me awhile to find the blasted thing it was by a pillar where akh dude spawnes. Took me awhile to get back to maddexs spawn point and saw poor madexx corpse . Think it was just killed to cause I saw some guy mount up and fly away, so I dont think the figure spawned after madexx was killed

that was the first one i ever found! although when i found it, i had never seen the world boss before, and got killed by him while trying to click it because i just homed right in on that statue in my excitement lol.

this is why i am hesitant to listen to people saying that statues can never be up at the same time as other rares in the zone. unless there is another theory that the world bosses don't count as regular rares or something.

Hmm, that's interesting. Maybe the camels, since they aren't actually creatures, don't act the same as other rares and so can spawn at the same time as rare mobs. Or the entire "one rare at a time theory" isn't so cut and dry.

I had been going under the "one rare at at time" theory and had been killing all the rares except Madexx (which I announce in general and then he's gone by the time I get back around) and the elite guy, thinking that would make the camels spawn.

Uhhh *thinks* who says no more then one rare can be up at a time? Ive seen Skoll and Vyragosa up at the same time, skoll and dirkee. Ive seen two rares up in grizzly hills, ive seen two up in sholazar.. so yes two rares can be up at the same time in the same zone. I even have SSs as proof lmao

So I think a camel statue can be up even if another rare is up in the realm, multiple rares can be up in zones in kalimdor, and in northrend, as well many people have got both sambas and karoma one right after the other. Also have found Burgy and the alliance captain rare up at the same time (not the horde though.. only all 3 happened once)


SO really more then one rare can be up at a time if you are lucky

I can tell you that rares most certainly can be up at the same time! I've had npcscan go off something like seven times in one zone, all right after the other. OTL Elementals, tameables, even a rare dwarf! All at once, too. It was almost painful.

It was a theory posted on the TLPD resource site some time ago, back when I was researching how to camp for it. The guy even suggested that folks send others out to kill any NR rares they could find once the clock started ticking for another spawn, to "force" Vyragosa or TLPD to spawn sooner. I've had that stuck in my mind ever since.

And I'm up to 12 fake camels now. Ugh.

oh I also want to add, if you don't have it turned on already...turn on your npc nameplates...trust me, it makes finding those tiny statues a breeze

It never occurred to me to try that. Will definitely give it a shot! I've been relying on frantically sweeping the cursor over the screen to find them.

well northrend rares work differently than the cata ones. when i mentioned not listening to the one rare at a time theory, i was referring to a number of wowhead comments that seem to think this is the case for uldum alone. it is definitely not the case for the other zones, as i think the majority of us know from experience. (ship captains in vashj'ir, anyone?)

Found my first figurine today. Of course it was the dud one, but it made me more confident to try and sweep through Uldum more often. :3 Damn they're tiny though. :<

Any trick to finding these WITHOUT NPCscan? ... I don't need it for anything else (I use a /tar macro, which i like better than the idea of false-positives happening frequently.. or having to log out just cause I forgot and ported to SW between zones...), and don't really like the idea of downloading an addon, and messing around with it.. just for one thing :/ (Personal preference, I actually don't use any addons rather than mini games for long flights).

Anyone know if there's a list somewhere of detailed spawn points? The map above is awesome, but since it's so small, was wondering if there's one for where it spawns within the dot
