I am SO sick of pugs

Unread post by Cerele »

okay, so i do my que and i get into a random, CLEARLY having problems as there are about 12 million skeletons by the first lady, who is just trash.
we pull tank dies and my silithid finished tanking her. so next trash and first boss.... was a nightmare and the warrior even said "finnaly"
so we try, and healer doesnt heal dps, she keeps her self and tank full health doesnt even bother touching dps, i die and i get BR'd by druid, then die from the channel thing he does, so by some miracle the tank and healer lived. and i got the achievement... somehow
so i ask
"Healer would you mind putting a heal on me? its kind of hard to live with no health"
so tank makes a smart ass remark "ohh well if you didnt take so much damage you fail ass huntard".
okay so i said "tank calm down im just asking for a heal"
so he shuts up healer doesnt say a word and warrior whispers me "yea this healer sucks dont worry ive got your back"
so im a tad safer. so next pull and tank pulls 12 dozen mobs and thinks he can take it, he dies, i killed as much as i could and FD then its a wipe, so tank and all his mightness
"YOU FUCKING FAIL ASS HUNTARD WHYD YOU PULL THE EXTRA MOBS???"
im getting very mad at him and i just tell him
"You pulled them, and it was rather intentionally"
so the warrior whispers me "he tried to kick you"
so this time tank pulls one mob at a time thank god, we make it to raptor mounted boss. and tank pulls.... didnt move from shield slam and died, again he gets up. next time didnt move from shiled slam... and died and again and again, so much so that we ran out of spirits and who do you think he blames?
thats right me, i had to pull my worm out to finish tanking him.
that pain was done, so with him throwing a hissy fit i mass rezed group and i won the roll on the necklace against the tank. so hes bitching about that the entire time until we make it to Arch boss, so he asks "does anyone of you have maxed arch?" i told him i did and he pulls floating masks.
okay he dies, and i wait on his rez, hes throwing a fit and i cant vote kick him.
pull boss and i dont get healed, i died warrior died and mage died.
boss by some miracle gets killed.....
so mr big bad tank runs ahead while healer is reviving, dies, and pretty much a repeating patern till we get to the snakes,
ohh i wanted a snake, so i asked mr hissy fit "tank do you mind if i tame a snake"
he says "only if it helps your fail ass huntardness"
i bite back comments and i distracting shot one, he starts aoeing them thrash hit one i was trying to tame, hes got full threat and a bleed, so i have to distracting shot and kite him for a bit, and the healer starts
"start taming him quickly"
"i cant tank has agro he needs to shadowmeld for me"
then tank throws a complete fit about how im telling him to play his class and how much of a huntard i am,
tame goes off,
You have been removed from the group..

i was so confused, im just getting rather annoyed with pugs and my guild never does runs...
atleast i got achieve, necklace and pet... but omg im REALLY hating pugs now-a-days

Edit.. wrong class mentioned at start

yea... sorry just frustrates me, when the dungeon finder was introduced most groups took it seriously, well more so than now, now its like if tank or healer doesnt like you, doesnt matter how bad or angry they are you cant tell them a word

It's a random dungeon, expect the worst. If your guild doesn't do runs, find a new guild. If your guild is important to you, set up groups from trade, gear check them, and then queue up for random ZG's. I never pug. I set up my own groups or pull from my friends. And if the healer or tank are that horrible, and wiping that much. Find another queue. You don't have to sit there and take what they give.

Aye, queue with your guild, that way you'll avoid the useless scrubs queuing for random, and trust me, the atmosphere is way friendlier.

Don't forget with 4 or more guildies in a group you get guild rep too!

Yeah it's stupid, and a lot of these people need someone to blame, half of them don't pay attention or even know the reason why their group is so shit. I was dpsing ZA on my druid a few days ago, we went through four tanks before getting through the bear boss; the healer was bashing every single tank that joined, claiming how much they sucked. The healer leaves, we get a new one and it starts going smoothly, one of the guys says "Hmm, makes you think if all four tanks were bad or if it was just one fail healer."

Next group I join on my druid was at a boss, we wiped and everyone but me and the healer left. I asked politely if he wanted to get more and finish the rest of the run and I get: "I am waiting," "For you to leave," "I have all night." So I said: Ok then, Mr. all nighter. I was being reasonable but if you want to act like a retarded 12 year old then i'd be more than happy to boot your fail ass and then finish YOUR run without you - and you can spend the rest of your night dwelling on how badly you got burned by the fail druid. <3 [Vote to kick <insert-jerk-here> has passed.]

If they push, you just need to shove them back a little. X3

---
Oh yeah, I was also tanking it up in a bunch of random ZG/ZA runs, I get quite a lot of praise from people in there:

GRP1, healer: "/w You were definitely easier to heal than most tanks."
GRP2, healer: "/p u might just be the best dk tank i have seen yet."
GRP3, healer: "/p dude felidire ur f***in bad ass dude, no joke."
GRP4, ret pally: "/p lmao ur awesome dk."
GRP5, hunter: "/p like seriously... awesome tank and heals, you guys are probably the best group i've had."
GRP6, healer: "/w ur doing better than the tanks i have been healing in a long time."

eventually I landed a group with a mediocre healer, and 3 dps who pushed out low numbers & were incapable of CC.

GRP7: Fail CC, wipe. Fail CC, wipe. Fail CC, wipe - [You have been removed from the group.] "LOL!! Seriously?" XD

I cracked up laughing, but they did me a huge favour. I don't envy the next couple of tanks who happen to join and then leave, and I don't envy you guys who have to queue as DPS, either! Hell, I've tried randoms a couple of times on my hunter/rogue, and getting thrown into fail groups after a 30-40 min wait was enough to put me off playing them in PvE entirely. (There's also the fact that you get a deserter debuff if you're kicked within the first minute of joining, I waited 35 min on my hunter and got kicked instantly, had to wait 30 min before I could queue again and then another 35 min wait on top of that. How pathetic!)

It's a shame you guys are all on different servers, it'd be so much more enjoyable being able to queue with 1-2 friends.

Another thing that is important to remember, is to make absolutely sure you're pulling your own weight in a pug. I'm not saying that you yourself aren't, merely tossing that out for anyone else reading.

Make sure you're hit capped

Wear lower Ilevel PvE pieces over your higher Ilevel PvP pieces, Ilevel doesn't matter all that much, the stats do.

Are you glyphed and specced properly? I've seen some people who are RPers wearing their RP gear into a group. This won't do, the lack of communication in most pugs is already a detractor.

One thing that I've seen is a large number of people wearing full pvp gear to cheat the ilevel requirements. PvP gear is fine, but you will not do the same amount of damage with a pvp set as you would with pve. The stat allocation for resilience takes up a lot of the budget, leaving you with less in pve. If pvp gear is all you have, make sure to optimize it best for pve encounters, or sub out pieces if you must.

My philosophy is that it's always best to be the best. If I'm going to go into a heroic, raid, instance or group I will be doing the absolute best I can. My gear will be enchanted and gemmed properly. I will have the right pet for the right occasion. I will have the best spec and glyphs to maximize my dps, and I will do everything I can in every situation.
It's a good philosophy to have, there are too many scrubs out there who expect to be carried through everything. I will research all bosses before hand and have a clear grasp of what abilities I will be up against. Arguing that you don't have enough time irl to learn an encounter is odd -reading over the abilities of the boss or encounter takes a few minutes at most- and will leave you with the knowledge of what you will be facing.

TLDR: If a few paragraphs is too long for you to read, go back to school.

okay 0 pvp gear, im hit capped, and im pulling 18-20k depending on group, im using roar of sacface on cooldown on tank (i usually have my silithid out with me so its kinda my gift to the healer) i am CCing when asked, i avoid uneeded damage (hence the achievement) using beastial wrath on cooldown, and i have glyph of kill command, serpent sting and kill shot. i have my meta gem matched, my gems are agility/crit,
i know all current fights, in heroics, i know only 5-6 of new raid content
And on top of all that im retaining a pleasant manner through dungeons,
im pulling my wieght, i have no idea how to make others do there job, or atleast be more kind about it

ohh ohh and my spec i will sacrafice the dps to get entrapment in the talent trees, (for raids like magma, or simple kiting)

....not to mention im used to being a hunter tank.... kinda had to for this pug too
not trying to brag here but i was pulling my own weight very much so, pugs like this are about a 1 in 3 chance in new heroics, or like a 1/12 in older,

It sounds like you had a really really bad run of things. :( Pugs usually aren't quite that bad (as I'm sure you know)... I suppose if it's any consolation, at least you don't have to sit through the wipe fest any more, and if you were the one saving their backsides (as it sounds like you were a few times there) they're going to quickly realise it when you get kicked. I still hate getting kicked for no reason though. It hasn't happened often but it smarts a bit when you are. I honestly with there was a "dispute kick" feature or something, that once you get kicked, you can ask a GM to look over the circumstances of the kick... if the reason was something like "hunter" within the first minute of a dungeon the kick initiator could get reprimanded. Or something. Just throwing that out there :/

The other day I was in ZA (god I hate that place, long and painful). I was with my guildie friend who was the healer, and both of us are very nicely geared, and my healer friend is very very talented at what he does. Not just saying that... it's amazing the hps he pumps out! We get into the group and it's obvious at first that the DK is a kid or something, just by his comments. He got annoying after a while but was ok. However we started wiping as DK insisted on skipping trash without letting the rest of the group know. We also wiped on the pre-bear trash because CC wasn't used properly. The pug Pally dps makes some smart ass comment about "pulling our shit together" ("who" "whoever keeps wiping us" seriously, I felt like saying "how informative" lol), we kill the bear boss, tank ends up leaving when pally makes another comment. Pally really wasn't that great. He was doing 15k, which is ok I guess, but hardly worth being quite the elitist jerk he was being. We continue on with the new tank - wipe a few more times for reasons I couldn't figure out - the pull before the dragonhawk boss, tank says something like "pally, if you're going to need on tank gear that I need without having the balls to tank yourself, I'm not continuing". Pally is like "lol its only 353 pity party" etc etc. Pally tries to kick tank, guildie and I reject the kick. I initiate a kick to the pally, who is kicked. Tank thanks us. We continued on and had an absolutely flawless run from then on in LOL
