Pet Swimming Animations

Unread post by Bulletdance »

I was wondering about pet swimming animations. I 've been considering getting rid of my serpent, but I loooove how he swims. My T-Rex swims pretty neat too. Anyone else notice a pet species that swims really cool? Mayb3e if I found one I liked more I wouldn't be so hesitant to try and new pet.

I really wish Serpents walked how they swam.

As for swim animations, eh, I don't know all of them. I just know that bird swim animations are really unrealistic.

I love the Wind Serpent swimming animation! It's probably almost exactly like the Serpent one. XD

Haha, I think it's silly how the birds fly through the water.

I always find the cat swimming animations amusing, mostly because I can't imagine a cat that would willingly do it. Then again, tigers DO like the water.....

I love the raptors/devilsaurs. They look cool.

Crocs, naturally, look better swimming than walking. :)

Besides him though, Crocolisks are one of my favourite...they look so natural in the water. Jormungar worms (and I suppose any of the worms) look just amazing too.

Gorillas have an interesting swim graphic to them in that they will actually try to swim like a normal person might.

For your information, Raptors and Devilsaurs cannot share their animations, as they use different "skeletons", that is, different basis for their animations.

They are probably based on each other tough.

I also exist on DeviantArt.

I just checked in Modelviewer.

Devilsaur is using his tiny front claws for swimming, raptors are not.
That means: Not the same animation.

Cleared that up.

I love the swim animation of worms (especially the fuzzy ones) and Warp stalkers, oooh warp stalker swimming animation is my favourite. Hyen's are much like a wolfs...doggy paddle. Have they fixed silithids yet? I haven't checked in awhile.

Hehe, I like warpstalker swimming also. I always feel like that tail is so heavy for them to carry, and now they finally don't have to worry about it. :D

As far as I know, worms, serpents, and wind serpents, look very similar when swimming.

I don't know why, but raptor/devilsaur swimming always bugged me...

Interesting sidenote, most cat species irl tend to avoid water due to not having any instinct related reason to enter it, so in absence of reason the water causes a danger response. It's not a huge response so it can be overcome by experiance. For example a domestic cat who is exposed to baths gradually and consistantly will likely grow to tolerate it, if not like it as a form of play time (Like my black male DMS, Picklefish.)

In the case of species like most tigers and jaguars, water generates no such danger response because these species actually have prey that resides in them.

Mind you when I say no danger response I'm not including the cat in question being concerned about specific predators that might also reside in said water I'm only speaking of the water itself.

As of yet, the Vargul Blighthound and its related untameable models have no swim animation, they just walk through the water. Its the only problem I have with them, really.

Crabs have a very nice swimming animation. They propel themselves with all feet at once.
