Molten Front taming grief possible solution?

Unread post by KutiePi »

My husband and I were talking and we came up with this idea.

Why not have these rare spawns put up a buff or debuff on both the hunter and pet once they are engaged where both the rare and hunter are immune to all outside effects and damage but each others. IE: The hunter can still dmg/snare ect the rare and the rare can still KO the hunter but the pet or hunter can not be knocked backed, snared, stunned by other players or their pets. And to make sure it's not exploitable if the hunters take the rares outside of the zones they're supposed to be in, like a few lava pools around Ant, the cave for Solix ect you get the idea, the rares cast an instant death spell on the hunter like in Vortex Pin with the drake boss. "-rare name here- senses -players name here- cowardice and is not impressed."

This seems like a better idea then zoning because that would be a lot of work for Blizzard to create a separate server for the hunter to be in. I'm not a Dev so I don't know which would be easier but this is just an alternative to zoning.

Yes this does mean hunter's won't be able to have an entire raid party help them tame a pet, which is a good thing because a hunter CAN solo these rares and less people interfering = less ganking. I mean if you want some help I guess the buff/debuff could make it so the player can still be affected by bloodlust or other party buffs but other then that it'd be just the hunter and the pet. Other people could come and watch but that'd all they'd be able to do. And rares like Deth or Skitterflame would just ignore the other players if they got too close or tried to use frost abilities to mess with the tame.

So? What do you guys think? See any flaws and how we could possible make it "foolproof"? I know there will probably exploits and bugs and stuff but... it seems better then what we have at this point.

I like the idea, but like my own to make it a little easier to actually tame a rare you wanted without being griefed. It would increase the people going "pay me or you no get spawn". They could hold the spawn forever and no one could do anything about it. With mine though you could only keep it for x amount of time then it would disappear completely, and it wouldn't stop the same rare from respawning as you hold this "captured" pet.

Well I guess but with most of the rares, unless your taming it they usually KO you pretty fast or the pet it's self dies =(.

Maybe make it an ability the pet has? Like Fixate (-rare- senses a possible challenger ignoring all else around him/her) Like the berserkers in the Zul instances? And after a set time like 30min max? long enough for Deth tames short enough no one can grief hunters for too long the rare casts Fed Up (-rare- is not amused, -rare- unleashes -rare's- full power) and KOs the player.

Also with your idea, which I do like and think it's awesome if either get implemented I'd be happy lol, but with yours it'd have to be a whole new ability and it would be good because it wouldn't be just with MF pets. But I could see it being easier to exploit. Also it kinda is close to zoning out, which is what I want to find an alternative to. It's still a great idea and if somehow the Devs could make it work I'd love to see that in our spell books.

Time limit = yes

Deth I could kite forever, the only of the new rares to be effected by being out to long in solix though >.<

EDIT:

well there isn't much to be exploited I don't think, but it would increase people selling rare spawns. Making it somewhat legit to sell them. rather then the douche move of "gimme cash or it dies and no one gets it." kind of thing.

Nope skitterflame's rage goes down by him being in a freezing trap or being on an ice trap. You could kite him forever without him losing any rage.

I guess you could, I forgot about the trap thing. But even then he's really fast and you'd have to move away from the place he would be allowed to go if the player wasn't a "pro". Either way timers are always a must for these things. Thanks a ton for your insight btw =) The more holes we can find and patch up the better lol. Hopefully our lurker will read this and think "Hey! This is a great idea." And we'll see it in a hot fix >_< Fingers crossed.

It's no problem at all. If I can think of any other holes I'll say what they are.

Still wish that blizzard can make rares of hunters only, like make them immune to non hunter attacks or something! D:

I'd like that too. Any rare who does not drop a green or better is visible only to hunters.

"The Cleaner" 2.0 basically? I think the holes in the plan have already been pointed out though, so I've got nothing more to add, but. I do like Novi's suggestion a lot though.

I would find that hilarious.

Setting patch 4.5

Douchebag A: "ugh hunters got more new pets lets go f*** with em"
Douchebag B: "ya I hate hunter getting all the crap when nothing changes with my class"
Hunter: "OMG FLUFFYPINKBUNNYMAN SPAWNED.... um..... /dismount /cast freezing trap /cast tame"
Douchebag A: "HAHA THERE IS ONE NOW LETS GET EM! /cast frostbolt"
The cleaners: "You may not interfere in this hunter challenge! (crits douchebag A for 500 million health)"
Douchebag B: "WOW wtf is that... I'm gone peace! /use hearthstone"

Douchebag A then res's

The cleaner: -camps douchebag A for 10 minutes for attempting to interfere in a hunter challenge-

The cleaner I know of is from an anime... and it will rape anyone face that is in it's domain. Though it purpose is to keep that domain clean. It sees outsides as unclean.

This lovely fella here, is the cleaner:
http://old.wowhead.com/npc=14503

He would show up during epic class quests, if someone tried to help you kill the elite monsters you were supposed to fight on your own as a hunter for Rok'delar, or complete the healing bit for Benediction as a priest.

Indeed... trying to kite Simone the Inconspicuous would often wind up with seven or eight black dreadlords one-shotting everything nearby >.> They were AMAZINGLY cool, and back when these miniboss guys were kiteable (i.e. didn't leash), you could bring the Cleaners quite a great distance for a little mayhem :P

hehe.

i think making the pet un damage-able by anyone but the hunter who tagged it would be the best OR in instance of deth , they must be in the group with the hunter to do any damage.
