Taents resetting was a "punishment" of sorts, if you will. We could have all the pets, but at a price. Blizzard just realised it was a stupid mecahanic (I guess?) and it was retracted. Everyone rejoiced.

I still never ever had it happen to me--it happened to friends and guildmates, and I even stabled my own pets to test it and never had them wipe talents.
