Defense glitched?
Just made a newbie hunter and it seems like the Defense stance for my pet is buggy. The pet won't attack until it gets hit. Baby hunter's getting wailed on by frost elementals and Thane the puppy has a sit down and a cuppa, but give his precious tail a tug and he goes ballistic.
Anyone else having problems of this sort?
(Also, bonus picture of buggy Timber (Thane)!)

Re: Defense glitched?
working as intended
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/game/patch-notes/4-2-0
you'll need to use the new assist stance

Pets
The Aggressive pet stance has been removed and replaced with the Assist stance. This stance will cause the player's pet to attack the player's target. The pet will not change targets unless the master attacks a new target for a few seconds.
The Defensive pet stance will now only cause the player's pet to attack enemies which attack the pet or the master.
you'll need to use the new assist stance

It's definitely a glitch if the pet is ignoring mobs attacking the hunter. Hmm, I think one of my friends had this issue on their baby hunter as well.Nightsights wrote: The Defensive pet stance will now only cause the player's pet to attack enemies which attack the pet or the master.

Re: Defense glitched?
ahh, good catch Veph.
i just tested on my sambas, hydra, oil stained wolf and karkin. all working fine with defensive stance.
i will fly to Dun Morough and see if Timber is up, and will test it.
edit: luckily he was up, tamed and ran thru a few mobs with him on defensive stance, he killed them all. they still haven't fixed his graphics, the edges of the fur is all jagged and pixelly. i remember when BarkyDoggy's (alpha wolf/coyote that barks) fur was like that, but they fixed it soon afterwards.
maybe put him in the stables for a time out. or give him some treats, like charred wolf meat, that'll get him to smarten up.

I could be mistaken, but weren't there some issues with the new stances while vanity pets were out? Maybe that was fixed.
I only bring it up because it looks like there's a Cenarion or Hippogryph Hatchling out in that screenshot.

Re: Defense glitched?
It's cleared up as of last log in. I've been trying to replicate it, but no luck so far. Maybe I was dreaming?

No, the new pet stances are terrible. They're buggy on top of it.

From Scattered Shots: Hunter pet changes -- QQ or HTFU?:
"Defensive stance This is the brutal change. I mean, if assist sucks, then we can ignore it like we did aggressive -- except that when in defensive stance, your pet will now only attack when you get attacked. It will not run out to attack what you're attacking the way it did before."
I was unaware they made that change and I think that's where my confusion came from...... In summation, really not liking the new stances.

Re: Defense glitched?
Yeah, they didn't announce the change to defensive I don't think... Really... They didn't give us ANY new stances... They just took half of defensive, stuck it into a new stance, and tweaked that slightly so that our pet will only attack our target (and having it take 3-5 secs to switch our pets between targets) for the START of the attack. After that.. the pet will semi go back to what defensive was before, and attack some other random target that's in combat, until you attack something else... It just seems... I won't say pointless as I like the concept of having my pet only attack my target.. but Definitely a sloppy change.
